Peas?

  • I see snap peas and snow peas on the list for Phase 1 but I don't see just plain old frozen peas on either Phase 1 or Phase 2's lists. Are they OK in Phase 2?

  • Hey Kara,
From what I have seen frozen peas or green peas are not a Phase 1 food but they are on Phase 2.
  • No peas at all EVER? What?!

  • Kara,
    Check this out:

Looks like you can at least have split peas

  • The link didn't work for me. But I'm not terribly computer savvy, so that may be the reason.

Thanks for checking it out, though Nikole!

  • The link didn't work because it is for a competing diet website and we used "linkosuction"!
Split peas are legumes and are allowed on all phases as are sugar snap and snow peas. Regular peas have too much sugar so are limited.
  • i would imagine if you age peas in phase 2 and counted them as a starch (i.e. rice or whole grain skipped peas had instead) it would not be a huge problem once in a while.

i remember doing weight watchers years and years ago and peas and corn counted as starch exchange not veggie... makes sense to me.

    thankfully i don't like peas....
  • Ah. Very nice. Thanks for the explanations!

  • What good are peas anyway if you can't mix them up in mashed potatoes or scoop them into your buttery cheesy baked potato?

    Sorry...I couldn't resist.
