  • Today is my birthday so I was all ready not to eat SB and have whatever I chose for dinner lol I ended up going for all-u-can-eat crab and even though I overdid it on the butter, I had greenbeans as a side and an unsweet tea. I decided later to get a pop (soda) and couldn't drink it because it was so sweet. Anyhow, I feel great about only straying a little and not going with an all out "whatever I want" fest. After the week I've had, I think it would have just turned ugly LOL

I know most of you don't do this but I am an everyday weigh'er and am down yet another lb today. That has me down 1lb everyday for the past 5 days! DH was great and got me a gift card for my birthday that he said I could only spend on me! He knows me well enough to know I would spend it on him or the kids. So, I spent $75 on clothes that fit since I have literally have none because I have lost 15lbs in the past month.

Kara - I love the cooking reality shows but I could never cook like that. I think it takes creativity that I don't have without trying really hard. Did you all pick Korea? DH has never wanted to live overseas and with his current job in the Navy, he would never have to.

Char - I love BBQ and grilled pineapple, mmmm!!! I just threw away some corn tortillas because I am the only one that eats them and they were calling to me yesterday.

Nessa - a manicure sounds nice. It was way too hot outside for me today and with my skin being so fair, I can't stay out long or I get burnt.

Hiya to everyone else but DH is now calling for me because he has a surprise?!
  • Hello all everyone is probably asleep by now, I am still working weekends nights so it is almost 2 a.m. and I am reading up on everyone's posts and trying to catch up. Seems like I am so busy during the week keeping up with my three kids and to be honest since I do computer work for 36 hours on the weekends the last thing I want to do on my days off is be on the computer except for quick email checks. Sounds like everyone has great plans for Father's Day. I will get home at 6 a.m. and sleep until 9:30 a.m. get up intime to get ready for Church. DH is going to take himself and the three kids to a ballgame after church so I will get to go back to sleep for a nap before heading back to work. I am looking forward to that Have a great day
  • Hey, Pearl. You work a LOT! Glad you got a chance to check in, though. I love hearing from everyone and getting all the stories.

Angela, we did pick Korea but it was a long and complicated process. Tom got orders to Baghdad for a year long tour two weeks before the baby was supposed to be born, but after his command found out about Avery coming so soon, they sent the guy who was in the #2 spot. Tom decided (well, we decided together) to put Korea on his dream sheet because he knew there were a lot of Intel jobs open over here, and since it's a year long tour, it counts as the same thing as a tour to the desert. He found out he was coming here the day after Avery was born. We're not "supposed" to be here as a family; he's on an unaccompanied tour, but after he got here, we started talking about coming for a visit and then that visit turned into four months and now we're going to come back with him again after we all go home for my sister's wedding in August. With all the times we aren't able to be together, I am all for taking advantage of the times when we can make it work. I happen to like being with my husband, and the two months that he was here before we came over were awful. The kids were so sad. I would randomly find them curled up on their beds with pictures of Tom. It was a mess. I would never make it as a Navy wife. Kudos to you! We actually like it here. I wouldn't want to live here the rest of my life, but I'm glad we had the chance to come over. Our follow-on is to Ramstein, and we're all really excited about that.

Gotta get dinner going. Stuffed zucchini and a side salad, with fresh blackberry/raspberry pie for dessert. Tom's pick. I don't think I'll be able to stay away from the pie, but I might counter that little piece I'll have tonight with a trip to the gym tomorrow.

    Have a good Sunday!

    Kara
  • A bright and cheery Good Sunday Morning to you!

I've been so busy lately that I haven't had the time to check in, but I've read all the posts to keep up to date on everyone. I've been super-busy all week long with the girls and dress rehearsals for Audrey's dance recital. It was Friday night and she did beautifully! The entire recital was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. Yesterday we celebrated Caitlyn's 17th birthday with a pool party here. The house is a mess, so after we get back from breakfast and grocery shopping, I'll be putting things back in order and doing laundry. We're grilling steak and shrimp for dinner, and I want to find time for a dip in the pool since it's going to be hot, hot, hot today!

    Enjoy your Father's Day!
  • It rained a bit overnight so the outside cushions are too wet to sit on so I will miss the morning concert. A robin sat atop the flagpole for 25 minutes last night and serenaded me - she knew it was going to rain.

I'll be thinking about my Dad a lot today. It's not only F.D. but the 22nd anniversary of the day I impulsively bought this house. After doing the deal, we went to the cottage and told Dad and he cried! He also said "Don't cut down any trees until I get there!" Too funny as the house had been out of the family since 1951!

Church is on the schedule for 8:30, then I'll visit Harry and take him his F.D. gift from The Girls. The afternoon will be a bit of gardening if it's not too mucky.

Have a lovely day, Chickies, and remember the men in you life who do fatherly things for you. I am blessed with several!
  • I woke up early and got some work done and then went outside when the sun started coming up and sprayed for mosquitos and then sprayed weeds...heading out to spray roses in just a bit...Sunday is spray day!

Need to go take a bath after that and hit the grocery store in order to prepare a Father's Day feast for my husband when he gets off of work at 5. He works on Sundays, but is off on Friday/Saturday. A weird schedule, but we are used to it. The kids are all supposed to be here for dinner, so that will be nice...other than that, pretty much a quiet day till the "party" begins tonight. I made a donation last night in honor of my Daddy to an organization that is raising money to rebuild a very old lighthouse that was destroyed. My Dad was an avid sailor and that lighthouse was a kind of "landmark" that we always passed leaving and coming back to the harbor.
  • Happy Sunday!

just walked the dogs for an hour... bagel hates me...

i have to go to the grocery store today and i have do so much laundry... thankfully laundry means i can do tv and computer between loads....
  • Good Morning!

DH stayed up late last night so he could sleep in today. That isn't anything new though since he does it every weekend. My oldest is off to church with a friend and then we will go pick up DH's gift and get lunch. I am going to Long John Silver's (ewww) it's his favorite and he doesn't get it very often. I think I will grill some steak for myself LOL

Kara - One of my friends just spent 4months in Greece with her DH who is on an unaccompanies orders. My DH was actually supposed to go to accompanied to China but found out he had too many dependents to get that billet. He was able to extend his shore duty until the end of enlistment. I can't believe he only has 10mths left and only 4 until he can put in his blue to green stuff. I think we are in for some culture shock becoming an Army family.
  • Good Morning chicks and Happy Father's Day to any dad's hanging around! I'm getting another slow start to my day, didn't sleep too well last night. Haven't adjusted to oldest DD being back in the house and the hours she keeps! DH is having fun with some friends at a festival this morning. I'm going to do a little (light) cleaning and laundry until it gets too hot, then we'll probably hit the pool. It's forecast to hit 96 today! We'll stop by to see my dad and wish him Happy Father's Day, then a nice dinner for DH at home. Tonight I have to pack and get things in order for my trip - leaving tomorrow morning.

Fl mom - Happy Birthday! I hear you about Long John Silver's! For a while it was my DD's favorite restaurant, but I always thought the food was terrible. Especially if you live where you can get decent seafood, who needs it? Once for her birthday, I made the cheesy biscuits at home from an internet recipe. After you baked the biscuits, you melted a pound of butter and poured it over! Yuck!

    Pearlrose - Enjoy your nap!

Kara/Fl mom - my DH isn't military, but he's a Merchant Marine Captain. He's usually gone for 4 months and then home on vacation for 4 months. We've been doing that for 19 years (hard for me to believe)! The longest he was away was 9 months during the Gulf War. We've had him around a lot over the last year while he worked out some health issues, but he plans to go to Antarctica in August.

Cottage - We'll be having steak and shrimp too, on the grill. Yum! I can't wait! It'll be a treat for me as much as for DH! I am a recovering dance mom, so I know how stressful that can be. Glad your recital went so well.

Ruth - Happy Anniversary! I have a picture of your cottage in my mind, and it's beautiful.

Femme - Enjoy your garden! I'd love to see a picture sometime.

Nessa - I love to watch TV and do computer stuff while doing laundry too, as a matter of fact I've got a load going right now. Let's hear it for multitasking!

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Hi beachbabes! just a quick pop by as I am on nursing duty! Darby came home last night and the Vet wants her watched like a hawk... she seems okay...- she has 16 staples in her little belly... it could have been much worse!

flmom: Hope you had a nice birthday!
  • I'm sneaking in a little break. I've been helping Jake put up the new fence in between loads of wash and cleaning the house. He doesn't seem to realize that when he's finished for the day, I still have dinner to make and clean up, pack his lunch for tomorrow, and fold laundry and re-make the bed with fresh sheets. I need a vacation badly!!!!! Don't be surprised if one day soon I run away from home and hide, it seems the only way I'm going to get some "me" time.

Sorry, I'm done venting. Jake is yelling for my help again, so off I go.
  • Good afternoon everyone! It's been a busy weekend and a test to my will power but I'm doing great! I attended a Tastefully Simple party Friday night, a Pampered Chef party yesterday, a neighborhood party last night and Father's Day breakfast this morning. I stuck to vegetables, chicken and water for the parties and this morning got a V8 with a delicious seafood omelet (I've never had seafood in my eggs before!). I got fruit and toast on the side and gave both to my kids to enjoy as I'm back on Phase 1. I feel satisfied but not weighed down ... and proud, proud, proud that I didn't even take a bite of the pancakes or Belgian waffle on the table.

We're having a lazy day here today and my boys might take my husband to the movies later. I'll stay here with my little one -- at 2 she's a nightmare at the movie theater, just wanting to run up and down the aisles if she'll even stay in the theater. Thinking about something delicious and healthy to grill tonight ...

    Have a great day!!
  • HEllo Ladies!!!
I have a personal question.. So I was curious about online dating so I while I was online at craigslist, I looked at the personals, and I saw a guy who was my age, lived a couple of cites over so I emailed him. Okay so in his pictures, hes cute, and I would probaly say maybe 2, 2 1/2 of me. Hes pretty chubby. I already told him that I dont look like I need to wear a sign asking someone to feed me. Because I am thick. I feel as if im huge, but I know in reality there is somepeople out there that would love to be my weight, and I know I feel that way about some people. I used to be very particular what clothes I would try on in front of people, because I know what will and will not fit me..( Oh I had a NSV, not a very big one, but it mattered to me. I fit into a friend of mines pants, and They actually FIT) So neways I can remember the littlest of me being of wearing a tight size 9, I can fit into a 17, not anymore, but I still have some.I tryed on a 12 from the limited and they almost fit... But Im usually a 13/15 in juniors, and a large shirt. I hate pictures. I just hate them, but I did have some that I think I looked pretty cute on an old cell phone. Im scared to send a pic. Im scared hes going to call me fat, when hes obvious alot bigger than me, but for some odd reason I think thats okay. Has anyone had an experience with this online dating scene?I hate feeling rejecting, but how am I ever going to know unless I get out there and do something.
  • Stacie, I don't know how old you are but be very, very careful about giving out personal information or pictures as you never know where it could end up.
I have copied your post into General Chatter where you will get more opinions. (This thread is closed tomorrow morning.)
    Here's the link.
  • FWIW I met my current husband online... just be very careful.
