Default Need advice please

I'm thinking of starting the Sonoma Diet. My husband is also thinking of starting but he travels and also is out in the daytime. Is this a difficult diet to stick to (epsecially in Wave 1) when you are traveling or out and about at lunchtime? Thank you!

I was fortunate in that I was working from home during Wave 1. My husband is sort of doing the Sonoma Diet with me, but he does his own thing for lunch and his weight loss is much slower than mine. But ... he eats Taco Bell and junk like that for lunch.

Regarding your husband, Wave 1 might be a bit tricky. Can he pack a lunch and put it in a cooler? That would probably be the best way to do Wave 1. The food options are more restrictive during Wave 1 so it could be tougher to find appropriate food at restaurants. If I was away from home during Wave 1, that's what I would do.

I used to travel a lot for business and the best advice I can give is this. If your husband is gone for more than a couple of days at a time, he should try to get a hotel with a refrigerator and a microwave oven. Even better, many of the "suite-type" hotels have mini kitchens. Then he needs to go grocery shopping so he can have more control over what he eats. If he must eat out for lunch and/or dinner, many restaurants have on-line menus that he can view ahead of time. Planning really helps; if he knows he has to eat off-plan for 1 meal, he can compensate during the others. Also, many restaurants are happy to make modifications to menu items.

Hope this helps. Good luck with Wave 1!

If you plan ahead of time, do some research and prepare.. it is very do-able. Bringing lunches is easy and if hubby eats at certain places often, he can plan ahead for what things he can eat on the menu and what things he can avoid. For example, eating at an italian place.. chicken marsala and veggies is a great choice.. mexican can be chicken fajitas with whole wheat tortillas. If he doesn't see what he wants on the menu, ASK! Restaurants want to make us happy so we'll keep coming back and most places will be willing to make alterations.

Just know what if on the plan for each Wave and order accordingly.. will be fine.
