Default sweeteners on Sonoma

I read in the Sonoma Diet book that honey is okay as an occasional sweetener. I am wondering if anyone knows about maple syrup? I'm talking about 100% pure maple syrup, not the food-colored corn-syrup garbage that lines most grocery store shelves. I sure would like a bit of real maple syrup on my protein pancakes ...

Hmm, I wonder if Stevia is acceptable, maybe someone could answer that one for me too. Stevia is all natural, fr om plant sources.....

I think the syrup would be okay on Wave 2, but take a look at the book and how much honey is used in recipes... like 1T for 6 servings. This breaks down to 1t a serving, if I am doing my math correctly at 6:30am Of course the new recipe book that is out might have recipes with more, so do check that out if you find it.

Stevia would be fine too, but keep in mind how little sweeteners the recipes are using. Minute amounts. Even on Wave 2, sugary stuff should be kept to a minimum.

A better or more Sonoma-ish choice for sweetening might be some fresh strawberries, pulsed in a blender and put on top of pancakes, french toast.. etc.

Thanks, Linda. I generally use Trader Joe's organic fruit spread on my protein pancakes (no added sweetener, just fruit), but really wanted a little syrup. The amount you mention is what I would use anyway; it's so sweet I can tolerate only a little.

And surprisingly, my daily fruit servings are really turning into a dessert for me (and hubby, too!). I never thought I'd say that; dessert to me was always ice cream, brownies, cake, and other junk like that.
