Can someone please tell me for breakfast for my 25% grain, I plan to use the Thomsen Whole Wheat English Muffins, would you consider a serving a whole english muffin or a half for breakfast? Thanks
Hi
Great question!
I started this morning and had 1 slice w/w toast and 2 eggs scrambled for breakfast. The toast looked like 40% and the eggs 60%, and to increase the eggs and reduce the toast would result in 3 eggs - and I thought you are only allowed 2 eggs for breakfast? I even made sure the plate was 7 inches.
So I remain confused.

The percentages are sort of difficult to deal wth, especially when you are dealing with things like bacon.. does the guideline say you need to fill 3/4 of your plate with bacon and 1/4 of grain? Even though that is what it seems to say, in some cases that really wouldn't work because 3/4 of a plate of bacon could be a lot of calories!!
The point I am making is try not to make yourself crazy with percentages. If you hit 30% grain one day and 10% another, it's not a huge concern. The plate measurements are there as a guide to re-educate us to what normal serving sizes are in this super-sized society we live in.
For breakfast sometimes, I eat an ww english muffin (a whole one), with 2 ounces of soy sausage, 1 egg white cooked with mushrooms and spinach and this is a good breakfast for me. I get my whole grains, some good protein and even some veggies in the deal.
