Default Day One

Okay, I love counting calories. but..... I end up eating a lot of things I shouldn't and not eating healthy stuff enough. I like the looks of Sonoma. So I'm starting today with breakfast. I don't have the book yet, so I may need to ask questions that I can't find in the sticky threads.

Glad to have you here and ask away. The plan is very new so a lot of us are learning right along with you. Some things aren't very clear cut with the plan so on some things we have to make a judgement call.

I am also a calorie counter but this way of eating did cause me to re-evaluate the quality of my calories. Just staying under calories isn't enough.. gotta get the most nutritional bang for your buck, so to speak.

Check out some of the recipes in the recipe area at the top of the forum. lots of good recipes there with more being added often.

Hi all -

Bought the book over the week-end, and I *think* I get it, so I started this morning. I doctored up my eggs with Celery Flakes and Cilantro, and rubbed my bread with a little Cinnamon, so I felt like I got a quick and easy gourmet breakfast. I'm going to follow Wave 1 as closely as I can, but I wrote out exactly what I'm going to eat and on what day, so I can "advance prep" some of this food while I'm still psyched about the diet. I even worked in a leftovers day, so I can use up any "veggies on the edge".

Cleaning out the cupboards was fun, until I got all the food on the counter. Wow. Calling the Food Bank today to see where I can donate the unopened stuff.

If anyone else is starting today, let me know, maybe we can buddy through the rough spots.

As an edit after grocery shopping and lunch - I was a bit scared of my food bill, only to find it was a very slight adjustment. I'm estimating Sonoma will cost me +$20 in the winter months, and will actually save me money in the summer.

Second, the food is just so darn pretty on the plate! I made a wrap with shrimp for lunch, and had more than enough to eat.

All in all, working out to be a splendid Day 1.

Deb
