2/18/2007 Food Thread

  • Ok, so I've been doing this for two weeks, and I weighted myself over the weekend... and I only lost 5 lbs. I was discouraged, so I ate whatever I wanted, and who knows, I probably gained 5 lbs back. I mentally went over my menu's the past two weeks, and I'm not really surprised I didn't lose more. I mean lets see, there was hot chocolate, Dove candies, probably more food than I should have had... BUT, I do have to admit, I actually feel better, and I'm less sluggish. Even though the pounds aren't melting off, I do like that I have been eating better, and not scarfing down fast food.

I considered starting Wave 1 again, but I'm not sure that is practical. So, I decided to do my best to stick to Wave 2. In more honesty, I'm not sure howwell I'll do tomorrow, since it's Fat Tuesday, and people tend to bring junk food to work on that day.

    Ok, here's today:

    B: Bran Flakes w/skim

L: Chicken thigh and leg, no skin and approx. cup of grapes

    S: 5 goldfish pretzels

D: Meatloaf, mac and cheese, grilled mushrooms

S: cupcake (my daughter made it for me) and a miniola (glorified orange)

I used Rachel Ray's meatloaf muffin recipe, probably could have modified it to make it more Sonoma friendly, but overall, still healthy, IMO. Also, my mac and cheese was homemade. Whole grain elbows, Velvetta and skim milk.

    I'm trying...
  • Don't remember what I had on Fat Tuesday, but it probably wasn't good.

    Wed.’s menu

    B: Bran flakes w/skim

L: Tuna salad sandwich w/lettuce and tomato (from book) and WW ice cream

    S: ¼ of an apple

D: 3 egg omelet w/mushrooms, orange pepper and tomato w/a piece of WG toast

    S: Popcorn

Could have done w/out the ice cream… but oh well…

Looks like I'm posting to myself here... where is everyone else?
  • B: Bran Flakes w/Kashi Go Lean and skim

L: Tuna Sandwich w/lettuce and tomato, banana, chocolate cupcake

D: Homemade nancho’s (2 WG tortillas w/pinto beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato and guacamole)

S: A few grapes and two pieces of Dove Dark Chocolate hearts

I weighted myself again. I still haven’t lost any more weight. So, since the beginning of the month, I’ve only lost 6 pounds. Three weeks, and only 6 pounds, which I lost the first week. Grrr… I’m not giving up though. Again, this will be hard weekend, especially since we are celebrating my mom’s birthday. I really need to get serious about my exercising…as that is the only thing that is going to help me. My short term goal was to be 170 or under by the end of Feb. I only have 5 days left to lose three pounds!
  • Did you do wave 1 yet
Just wondering if you did wave 1 yet. It looks like you are doing wave 2 for the most part. I am just starting to add in some more exercise and everything so I may do wave 2 again for a while. My metabolism is so slow that Wave 2 was about as many calories as I need to maintain. I think Wave 1 is important because it kind of detoxifies you. That is a very good thing for starting a diet. You get more out of the food you eat and it helps you manage your cravings.

This week is cleaning out the stuff I can't have any more. Kind of sad. My old roommate left a lot of really good stuff that would have saved me a lot of money but since it isn't on the diet. It is going to my parents and coworkers. Oh well.
  • Day #3 on wave 1. So far doing o.k.... feel very good, not getting hungry between meals, as long as I don't go too long with eating.

    B 2 eggs and 1 pc wwb
    S 20 peanuts
L Chicken tabbulah (?) salad and leafy green salad
    S 6 cherry tomatos
D pork chop, brown rice and Kale.

Its that tough time right now, after dinner... wanting something chocolatey!!!
