Question Are you using the cookbook? I'm a bit confused.

Hi. I'm new to this forum and new to the Sonoma diet. Actually, I haven't even started it yet so I want to make sure I do it right. I picked up the diet book and the cookbook and started looking them over this weekend. The diet sounds fabulous (for a diet) and the cookbook looks great. I have a few things that are a bit confusing to me though. For stage one, does anyone know how to determine if a recipe is a lunch or dinner recipe? Also, I have noticed on some of the recipes they suggest accompaniments that are wave 2 or 3 recipes only. For example Wild Rice and Chicken Soup (page 35) (Wave 1) suggests that wave 1 dieters serve it with Brocolli and Goat Cheese (Wave 2 and 3 only) (page 211). It seems like a contradiction. Thanks for any advise you can give me.

Welcome.

Yes the plan and the cookbook do have some inconsistencies, so you aren't the only one confused.

The accompaniments they are suggesting aren't for all Waves, just think of it as Serve with ideas. I don't think they are saying that every side dish is right for Wave one, but rather it would be a good mix of nutrients with the particular meal or would be a good culinary compliment If you are on Wave one, you'll have to avoid wave 2 recipes. Wave One meals are suitable for Wave 2 and 3, with additions, but Wave 2 and Wave 3 meals are suitable for Wave 1. Pick a wave one side dish for a wave one meal etc

This might clarify things a bit .. this thread might help. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71128

During Wave 1, lunch will consist of 40% protein and 60% Tier 1 vegetables. Dinner includes 30% protein, 20% grains, and 50% Tier 1 vegetables So lunches will be ones higher in protein and no grains, at least for Wave 1.

But please don't get too hung up on the ratios. The main thing is to train ourselves to stay away from processed foods, white flour, white sugar and eat a more healthy diet. The ratios aren't a magical formula for weight loss. If you are 5% higher in one area one day, and 5% lower in another area another day, it will all even out.
