Default 300 + and Ready to Try Again #1076

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears .
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Well girls I wanted to stop and give a little bit of an update.

Nothing to much going on here excet trying to get ready for Christmas. We are putting the tree up today ( Late I know....) Still have some boxes to unpack and the such.

We also still have a few presents to buy and wrap all of them.

I have TWO NSV's to tell you all about!~!

1) I went shopping alone the other day.
This would normally be a bad thing because I buy LOTS of sweets and things we don't need. Spend more than we can afford. But -- I didn't. I didn't buy anything that we didn't need. I actually forgot a few things lol. I can also say that I walked down the aisle with the ice cream and didn't stop to get any!! For us that is a huge thing because we both love ice cream. Instead of the ice cream, i bought these Morning Star 'Chicken Patties'. They are awesome.

2) We had to take our Xterra to the shop the other day or we would have had a blow out. While they were fixing it, Amanda grabs my hand and it like let's walk. We walked I know a good 25 blocks. We ended up at this old Mansion ( Jemison Van Degraff Mansion). It's suppose to be haunted, but they let you explore the whole thing. It's like a self guided tour. Needless to say this thing is huge and we walked all over it. To get to the very top at the watch tower, we had to take 4 flights of stairs up. Which also means 4 flights down. Then we went to a secret part with the girl that works there. Another flight down and up. That gave me a grand total of 25 blocks and 10 flights of stairs!!!!!!! WOW. My knees are hurting from it because of previous tae kwon do injuries. I am taking some Aleve and just dealing with it.

So I hope that things are going good for all!! Glad that Christmas is almost here!! Sooo excited!!

I'm doing it, I'm doing it...I'm changing my ticker down 2 more pounds because it's been saying that weight for a couple days now, so not just a fluke. WOOHOO!

I've got my food for today planned out, so I know I will stay on track. No eating out, no ordering in! I do have to do some grocery shopping pretty badly, and I have to go to my bank, and Jeff needs an oil change, so we'll be out and about, so I'll have to pack maybe my pbj sandwich in my purse in case I get hungry while we're out.

Anyway, I really have to go shower and get ready if I'm going to make it to the bank before it closes. Love ya all, ladies, and hopefully will have time for a nice, longer post soon!

Hi ladies. Just thought I'd drop by and give an update!

Finals are over, grades are in, and it looks like there should be nothing standing in the way of my acceptance to nursing school! Yay! I have to get through this next semester, and then start in the fall. This means in the spring of '08, I will be an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) and a year from then, I will be an RN!

I've been really having issues with my ankle again. Unfortunately, it has led to my foot and ankle being extremely swollen, which makes it hard for me to do too much. I have to honestly say I blame it on the weight. I didn't have these issues when I was lighter & losing weight, so that leads me to believe my weight has really created some havoc. This means there's only one real option: get the weight off and keep it off. Of course that's what I've wanted for a long time, but I guess I just haven't been committed to the cause.

Today I had a revelation. It actually involved housework/cleaning/etc but then I stopped and thought about it and applied it to my situation now. My husband was whining about not wanting to help clean, because he had no motivation to do it. He was doing a half-arsed job at it, so I stopped and told him, "Just because you don't have any motivation doesn't make it okay to not put in any effort."

Just like that, it popped into my head that hey, I'm a hypocrite if I don't apply that to myself. I have to take a physical education class starting in January. Now, before, I was seriously contemplating taking a class like bowling, because hey, that's easy! Instead, I decided to sign up for an individual exercising class, which means I choose what I do, and when I do it, but I have to be accountible for what I say I'm going to do in order to get the credit. So, it looks like I will pretty much be forced to exercise, which is what I think I need at this point. Then, once I'm in the habit of doing it, I think it will start to be easier to just do it.

There are many things in my life that I've just let go of rather than taking care of them. I don't have that option anymore. My health, my family, my home, and my job all have to take priority, and in that order. I just have to get up and start doing rather than continue saying.

hi everyone! been away a couple of days getting stuff done off the to do list--i love crossing things off my lists! just wanted to let everyone know i posted some pictures of our christmas tree. we didn't decorate last year, so this is the first time in our new house and we're so happy to have it up. it just didn't seem much like christmas last year. anyway, just had to share!

to anyone who is new in the past few days . this is one great place to be!

jilly--i have to say i've felt a lot better since i've stopped with the frozen meals and i agree that they probably aren't very nutritious. i am just so horrible at making things ahead. or i make them and forget them. your crockpot concoction of chicken, salsa, corn, etc sounded really good. i'm going to have to give making stuff on sunday a try. if you have any other great recipes for the crock pot, please pass them my way! if i don't have a recipe, i'm hopeless! and.....a big WAY TO GO on being down 5.75 pounds! that is so awesome!! you should be so happy with yourself for doing so well lately!

nancy--your lunchbox is so cool! if i keep up with remembering to take a lunch, i may have to try to find something like that. for christmas i asked for a thermos waterbottle that says it can keep water cold for up to 12 hours. i've been doing really well getting water in, but i hate when the bottles sweat all over the place and then the water is lukewarm after an hour or so. hopefully, it'll help make getting that water in easier! i hope all is going well, or the way you want it, with your BF. i have to say though, the b & b sounds like a great opportunity, too!

annie--thanks for the words of encouragement about posting even when not op. i usually feel like being here really helps, but i guess i was just having a moment! thanks for the reminder of how important it is to get on here!

erika--good for you for getting all that walking in! and, especially for braving the haunted house! my husband loves things like that and always wants to go on these haunted history tours around st. louis and alton (alton, illinois is supposed to be the most haunted place in the u.s. or something like that), but i am the biggest chicken and won't go with him. you're braver then me!

oh....one quick nsv before i go. i was making peanut brittle for a family get together tomorrow (a better choice then anything else since i don't like it and won't eat any at the party) and was standing at the stove, stirring and watching the thermometer. rich came up and gave me a hug and said "hey! you feel smaller!" i love that man! and it was so nice to hear since i haven't been doing much to lose weight lately. i don't know if he really thought that or was just being nice, but it was thoughtful and made me happy, true or not! hopefully i'll have some time to post this week, but if not, i hope everyone has a wonderfully happy and safe holiday! lori

Greetings all,

Just a quick pop-in to say hello. I've been really busy and haven't really checked in for awhile.

Heather, I'm still exercising and will post minutes tomorrow. I hope your toe is feeling better.

Jill, way to go with the weight-loss and staying on plan. That is spectacular considering this time of year is usually the most difficult to focus on weight-loss. I'm very happy for you.

Nancy, I love that lunchbox. LOVE it!

I didn't take notes while reading and I know I am missing lots of folks, and for that I apologize. I'm off to clean the house and wrap some gifts. Just wanted to pop in and let you know I haven't dropped off the earth.

I'm just popping in quickly to say hi. Nothing much going on this weekend. We went out to sushi tonight, which was fantastic. I just wish it weren't so expensive. I would eat a lot more of it.

I went and interviewed at that place on Friday and it wasn't for me. The room as a shoebox! It was interesting, but I realized I need my space even if I need to pay a lot for it. If I was 20 I might go for it, but it isn't what I need right now. Plus they are trying to sell the property, so I could move in and then be out any time the place sells. I don't want to live under that kind of pressure. I am kinda glad though. I wasn't ready to make a decision yet, and if that had felt perfect it would have been really tough.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

brandnewme -- That insight you had sounds like something that happened to me... last July... when I started this journey.

DON"T LOSE SIGHT OF IT!!

And that exercise sounds like a great idea. Lately one thing that's helped me a lot is working out with the trainer. I have an APPOINTMENT with him, so I HAVE to go, whether I "want to" or not!! Good stuff, that.

Ziggy: Welcome back, nice to see you.

Brandnewme: Great attitude. I hope you will do wonderfully in your new classes.

Lori: beautiful tree. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Jen: Hi there.

Nancy: Glad that the moving closer to your work and working at the B & B is now answered for you!

Heather: You are so inspirational. Thank you much.

I hope everyone is just off getting ready for Christmas.

Misti: as soon as you can please post so we know you are okay. I'm praying you are safe. I live in Post Falls, ID and saw all the wind damage and devastation in your area. We did have our share as 1/2 of our roof is missing the shingles and roofing. Luckily we weren't hurt other than our house. Houses can be fixed, people can't.

I had my very first NSV today. My sweet hubby was massaging my back in my problem area and he did my behind a bit too. He told me that my bootie is getting smaller. I was so happy. He also said that he can feel the muscles in my tummy now. It just made my day because I have been working very hard. Not lots of minutes exercising yet but, doing it religiously every single day so, it is nice to see my body is responding.

Blessings to you all,
Annie
