Default Lite Soda, wonderful

So, I was browsing my Earthfare and saw something. Lite Blue Sky soda. I've only seen one other diet soda in a health food store, Steaz, which I'm not a fan of. First, I thought, hm, it has fifty calories in a can, why would I do that if I can just do diet instead? (I'm diabetic, do enjoy soda, but will not touch real stuff even though I could bolus for it) Then I got to thinking. I drink too much stuff with splenda. Aspartame gives me migraines, but I know splenda is a chemical too. This has real sugar, which I firmly believe is better for most people than the chemical alternatives.
So I got a six pack. I have cut my daily soda drinking a lot, because the 50 calories make me stop and think. One a day, no biggie, but two a day is 100 calories.
So, in short by choosing the higher calorie option, I'm keeping my diet more natural, and cutting back on the intake of carbonated beverages and trading it for water or green tea. I thought I would share this revalation of the lite, verses the diet.

That sounds interesting! Do they just use less sugar, or is it a mix of sugar and some other sweetener? It makes you think that if they can make a drink taste just as good with half the sugar, why bother making it sweeter?

Just sugar, 13 grams worth. The ingreidents are:Filtered carbonated water, real sugar, natural flavors and extracts of washington cherries and madagascan vanilla, and citric acid.

And again, I know water is always best, but I love diet soda. The 50 calories makes me think, so I limit myself to one can, not the pack. They have a few other flavors, too. I have no idea why they make soda sweeter. My roommate had one who only drinks regular and thought it was fine.

It uses another sweetener, not just less sugar. It uses some chinese herbal fruit thing. At least the 6 pack I picked up during pregnancy thinking FINALLY just less sugar. But I had never even HEARD of this sweetener so I didnt drink them.

I think I have one in my fridge still, I'll go look it up.

Lo Han - it uses a sweetener called Lo Han

http://www.itmonline.org/arts/luohanguo.htm

Anyway, I found the soda still very very sweet, and with the very limited info available on Lo Han decided to skip it.

But why DONT they make a soda with just less sugar. It would be sooooooo good.

Back to carbonated water and juice for me!
