I have a biscotti recipe thats made with cake mix. I dont have time to post it right now I am getting ready to go to work, stay tuned for tomorrow, I'll post it then. You may have to figure out the calories, I'm not sure if thats in the book.
1/3 cup butter
2/3 cup Splenda®
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp. baking powder
½ cup egg substitute
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
4 oz. white chocolate baking bar, coarsely chopped
3 oz. semisweet chocolate bar, coarsely chopped
Topping:
2 Tbsp. shortening
2 oz. semisweet chocolate or white baking bar, coarsely chopped
Preparation:
Coat a large cookie sheet with cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add Splenda®, cocoa powder, and baking powder; beat until combined. Beat in egg. Blend in flour by hand. Stir in the 4 ounces white baking bar and the 3 ounces semisweet chocolate.
Divide dough in half. Shape each half into a 9-inch-long roll. Place rolls 4 inches apart on prepared cookie sheet; flatten rolls slightly to a width of 2 inches.
Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the centers comes out clean.
Lower temperature of oven to 325 F.
Cool loaves on cookie sheet or a wire rack for approximately 1 hour. Using a serrated knife, cut each roll diagonally into 1/2-inch-thick slices.
Lay slice, one cut side down, on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake slices in a 325 degree F oven for approximately 8 minutes. Turn slices over and bake an additional 7 to 9 minutes more or until slices are dry and crisp. (Do not over bake.)
Transfer to a wire rack; cool.
In a heavy small saucepan combine the shortening and the 2 ounces semisweet chocolate or white baking bar. Cook and stir over low heat until melted and smooth.
Drizzle over tops of biscotti. Let stand until set. Store in an airtight container up to 1 week.

Funny that you should post this. I paid $7 a box for LAWL biscotti (6 in a box); I had never eaten a biscotti in my life and I really, really liked it, but $7 is insane. I just bought Nonni's Biscotti at my local Publix - paid $3.49 for a box of 8 (they do appear ever so slightly smaller than the LAWL brand, but they will certainly come in handy as a quick carry snack for me (Biscotti counts as 1Fr and 1Starch). One box will last me a month since biscotti's are a special treat.
Ingredients on both start with enriched wheat flour(Oz No No). The LAWL then has some rolled oat; Nonni does not show that it has any oats. Both have soy lecithin and, unfortunately, both have that hydrogenated palm kernel oil (also an Oz No No).
It seems like you could make a batch of the recipes above and sub with some better for you ingrediants? Maybe even make an extra large batch and give as holiday treats?
Mix together with electric mixer 3-4 minutes the following:
1 package German chocolate cake mix
1 stick margerine ( recipe actually called for butter)
2 eggs
1 cup flour
1/2 cup finely chopped hazelnuts
1/4 cup grated semisweet chocolate
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Shape dogh into a rectangle, bake 30-35 min till tooth pick comes out clean.
Cut on diagonal in 1 " slices. Bake biscotti 10 more minutes and turn oven off.
let them sit in in the oven 30 to 40 more minutes then bring them out to cool on a wire rack for 2 more hours. Store in airtight container.
I analyzed it with fitwatch and this is what I got:

Maybe you could tweek it with applesauce instead of the margerine, leave out the chocolate, egg beaters instead of the 2 eggs and buy a light cake mix
... I may try it but not today, have to get ready for work now.
