Talking New Fat Chick!!!

Hello Everyone!

I'm new here and wanted to know if anyone could suggest a good diet. I need to get as much fresh veggies as possible and I NEED SUPPORT!!!!

I don't have a good support system. My hubby works all the time and just leaves money for me and the 3 kids to go out to eat every night.

I want to get healthy and I want to look good.

I look forward to making some good friends, too.

I think I'm ready mentally, so I'm gonna give it a go for real this time.

Any suggestions are very welcome.

Welcome RM3! Congratulations on your decision to get healthy! If you are looking for a very healthy, easy way to change your life, may I suggest Weight Watchers. It's great, easy to follow, and it accomodates your every day life. You follow a point system, with every food imaginable being on your plan. This isn't a regular diet, it's a life change. There are several forums on this website specifically for WW. I would recommend going on one of the introductory threads, which will explain the Plan in detail. If you decide to go through with WW (even if you don't), just throw me a message if you have any questions. It's great to have some people that you can just talk to about anything. I've been "dieting" for quite some time, so I'm a pro. Nah, but I've got a few things under my belt that I may be able to help you with. Once again, congrats on deciding to join up!

Default Hi RM3

Have you ever been on a diet? I was very successful on Weight Watchers because of the meetings, I felt good talking about what was going on in front of people. It made it hard to "cheat" knowing that the next week I'd see those same people again and I wanted to have a good report. Their diet doesn't really "make" you eat anything. Everthing has points, ice cream has more points than apples. You can have the ice cream but you'll be "out" of points earlier in the day. I liked the freedom it offered. I could have what I wanted I just had to be honest with myself and in my food journal and I would lose weight. I lost 60 pounds with them. I have gained some back but am in the place where I am ready to do it again. I am eating more of a South Beach Diet right now, just because I feel really good on it, more energy and not hungry. Do you exercise? I have found that it is half of the equation, you've got to put in your time and you will feel much better and it is easier to stick to ANY diet if you are feeling positive.
Our goals aren't too far apart, I'd love to work together on this. Do you have a goal weight date set yet? I don't as of right now, my arm is in a cast and exercising is difficult (don't want to get cast smelly!)
I am working really hard on consuming my 8 glasses a day of water, the weeks that I lost the most were the weeks that I drank all the water. I LOVE Coke and Pepsi so they're my downfall.
Good luck and let me know how you are doing.

Julie
