Default Christmas Challenge Chicks Week of Nov 6th - 13th

Where is everyone? Even if you are just popping in please leave a post maybe just say 'hi'. It encourages everyone just to know you are there.

My weigh in had me down 2 lbs. . I am finding it harder to stay with my motivation but I keep picking myself back up. Lets talk about motivation a little this week to help respark that fire. What is/was your motivator? Mine was a picture I saw of myself six weeks after giving birth to my middle son. I was about 170 lbs. I really want to be there again.

AS for me I have been doing my exercises and eating alot of veggies, even the ones I don't like But they are good for your body. Whatever LOL!!!!J/K

My motavation is to just be Healthy overall. I want to beable wo talk uphill or fast without running out of breath. My family has a history of bad health and I don't want to be one of htem at such a young age. I especially want to wear a size 9 agian. it's not to small nor to big. I carried that weight well, I was 140-145. So that my motavation.

Hi Gals

Jelly- Way to go on those veggies! Your reasons to get healthy sound great!

GoingGoal- Wowza on the two pounds! My motivation lately is more to feel comfortable in my own skin. The health scares are there- high blood pressure runs in my family, but those are not on the forefront of my mind. I am more interested now in doing things like being able to move freely. I don't want to worry about huffing and puffing up that fifth flight of stairs at the parking garage. I want to be able to enjoy walking for hours on the beach when I go on vacation. (Hopefully that will be soon!)

Last week I lost a pound and a half, putting me at 179.5. When I stepped on the scale Monday, it was 178! But this morning, my official weigh-in, it says 180.5. I am not overly concerned about slight fluctuations. I know I have been op this week, and I exercised night before last. But I DO NOT want to register my official weigh-in as above 180 again. Am I being a big baby? What would you do?

Lovely ladies, take care and stick with your plans! Even if your motivation wanes, make sure you have the good healthy habits to fall back on. That will get you through until the "feelings" come back.

My motivation to lose weight was/is the fact that I look appalling! My son took a pic of me sitting at the computer on my phone and I couldn't believe my eyes. I can't fit into any of my clothes and am having to buy bigger sizes continually. I don't want to go places because I am embarassed by how I look. I want to look "normal" again and be able to participate in activities that I can't because of my BIG, HUGE, BODACIOUS, boday! Aaand for some reason, I just can't seem to lose and it's really bothering me. I've been exercising and watching the calories. I know I need to drink more water and prob eat more often but this is depressing. I hope I can reach my goal!

gmornin chicks ... I have been so busy I dunno which way I am goin ... I am still stayin OP .. altho I did have a off week .. not to sure the official weigh in was right as it had chilled up pretty good so i had changed my usual weigh in clothes to scrub pants instead of shorts so think that had a lil to do with it ..but this week wore same scrubs and showed 1.2 down .. so I guess I have reset my weigh in clothes and now my weigh in should be a consistant gauge now. I would think I was being silly if it wasn't for the fact a girl was there that had a sweater.. not a heavy one i would think ..but was nice... a friend loaned her a t-shirt to weigh in with .. and we weighed the sweater after.. it was .8 lbs! and it wasn't what i would consider a winter sweater at all! so .. maybe I am havin a false sense of difference between the shorts i used to wear and my scrub pants now ..but its k .. it works for me ..grinz ... I have been exercising regularly .. hittin that treadmill .. i had a off couple of weeks but this week I can say I have been regular and I am workin on that couch to 5 k program .. so I am actually somewhat jogging now! yay! dances~ .. well time for work .. hope everyone has a great day!

Thank you for the encouraging words Jelly and NewDay. And a big Whoo-Hoo on getting that exercise in. I know how hard it is to get our bodacious butts moving but it sure feels good when we do!

Sugarbaby- hang in there you can do it. Drink your water it does help. Lately, since I cut way back on my coffee (it was effecting my blood pressure and my tension level) I have been getting up in the morning and having Silver Tea which is basically hot water with lemon juice. I am finding it to hit that warm comfort spot I need in the morning and it counts as water intake where as coffee dehydrates you and does not. - Just an idea.

I thought I would also share a recipe I made this week. Some of you know by now that I do love a pot of soup. I make one probably once a week. I am into comfort foods but now I am trying to make them low cal instead of southern goodness ah-la Paula Deen. I just love her recipes way too much.

Chickpea, Tomato Soup with Noodles

1 onion
Pinch of saffron threads (optional)
1 1/2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground turmeric
2 carrots, sliced in rounds
1 celery rib, diced
1 lrg cup of butternut squash, peeled and diced.
2 Tbsp chopped parsley
2 Tbsp chopped cilantro
1 28 oz can Italian Stewed Tomatoes
1 15 1/2 oz can chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
1 15 1/2 oz can fava beans or 1 cup cooked lentils
Angel Hair Pasta ( I used a small amount and broke them in half )

Saute the onion in your soup pot the saffron and other spices for a couple of minutes. Add the squash, carrots, celery, parsley and cilantro. Cook slowly until the onion is soft about 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes with their juices, chickpeas with their juices and fava beans (rinse and drain these). Add enough water to give the soup the texture you like, about 2-3 cups. Simmer until the carrots are cooked through, about 20 min. Add a pinch of salt and pepper if you like. In a separate pot boil your pasta, drain it and then add it to your soup after the carrots have softened.

Well, I just kept my ticker the same, since I saw that 179.5 number later in the day. I am getting a little caught up in those numbers on the scale lately. I saw 177.0 today, which is getting me all excited! Hopefully I will have a good number by the time weigh-in rolls around. It should be, since I have been careful about staying on-plan, and have been exercising.

Speaking of exercising- I did a new Firm video today. It was SO HARD for me. I had to stop after 35 minutes, because it was killing me. So, I have a new mini-goal now. I want to make it through the entire 50-minute work out! I know that in time I can get there.

GoingGoal- That soup sounds so yummy. Do you have any idea of the nutrition facts for a serving? It seems pretty healthy. I may have to try it.

Owira- Your exercising sounds great. Do you have a treadmill at home? I think I would really like to try the C25k program, but right now my Firm videos are it.

Sugarbaby- Keep on working and you will get there. Keep on focusing, and try not to let yourself get down. The changes you make can feel so great!

Hi everyone....

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I sure do need it. I think I'll try substituting my coffee with tea. I'm not much of a tea drinker but I guess since I'm changing other habits I'll jump on this one too. Maybe it'll help..

I am going to go for more excercise this next week. I'm going to go for 80 min of walking or gym instead of 60 each day and see if that helps boost up the old metabolism a bit. Aaand drink more water.

You know what's disappointing?? To lose weight and still be a DD. I was hoping to finally break out of the full-figured category since the 38 D I was wearing was too big. Sadly this is as small as I get.

What's scary though is when I last was at this weight I crammed the girls in a 36 C. It's amazing that I didn't have any shoulder or back pain or maybe I did ,but I don't remember.

I'm exicted though because I weighed myself two days ago and in a month I've lost seven pounds. Apparently eating more was what I needed to shift the weight right now. Of course I've also added a lot more healthy foods in my diet.

sugarbaby: Don't give up! For some people weight loss is fast, for people like me it takes a long time. It's taken me almost two years just to lose 32 pounds. However, if you keep plugging away at it, it will happen.

It just takes a bit of experimentation to see what works for you at the moment. Sometimes changing up the foods you eat, adding or subtracting calories, cycling calories, etc. is all your body needs to start losing weight.

My motivation??

Originally I started because of my health. I basically had a moment where I couldn't deny anymore that my weight had gotten out of control and it was lose the weight or have my health decline further because of it.

One thing that pushes me forward everyday to stay on plan is that there is no turning back. My overall health has done a 180 since I started.

GoingGoal- Way to go on the loss! You are so close to your goal! Try not to psyche yourself out. Just keep doing that good work you have been doing, and you are gonna make it! Even if you made it to 40 pounds lost at New Years instead, WHO CARES! That is 40 pounds less that you weigh. I am so proud of you!

Owira- I am so jealous of your treadmill! I would so love to have one... hopefully when I move in a year or so... I hope it continues to go well for you.

Zorak- Aaah, bra issues. I have three different cup sizes in my drawer right now, all of which fit! I think bras are so confusing. I would love to someday just be a plain old C.

Sugar- How are your workouts going? Are you enjoying them?

Gremlina- Thanks for saying hi!

About me- I stepped on the scale and I am down 2.5 pounds to 177 this morning. After having no loss last week, I'm pretty happy-ful. This makes me half-way to my 30 pound Christmas goal... hehehe... I am thinking my Christmas goal is going to become a valentine's goal. My goal in the back of my mind is to be in the 160's for Christmas. That is another 8 pounds. I hope I can make it! Even if not, I am feeling so amazing, that I'm ok. I am so much happier in my skin and with my downward trend, that today I am just happy.

Take care, girls.

I am at a stand still with the weight. Although, I'm really still watching the calories and I am getting my workouts upped. I have did 100 minutes of walking/jogging and gym today and 90 minutes yesterday. I am having difficulties on drinking the water.. Does it really make a difference?

ChristineCongrats on your weight loss!! You too goinggoal!!!

I quit coming because well..I quit. The consequence? I gained 8lbs. Oops. I'm back to journaling. I haven't gotten myself back on the bandwagon totally but after a few days of seeing my totals, I'm naturally watching stuff again. Sigh. I need a boost ladies. I haven't had chocolate in 2 days (that was my main culprit).
