Default Weighty Issues #46: November 06

the NOVEMBER edition of our Weighty Issues thread.

The holiday season is upon us. We've gotten through Halloween , but Thanksgiving is coming fast and we have to plan, plan, plan. We don't want EXTRA POUNDS for Christmas do we? No! Need some new inspiration? We're a group of wonderful women from different walks of life, spread out from the East Coast to the West Coast and the sunny Pacific.

We support each other through the highs and lows of every day life--it's not just about weight loss , it's about LIFE . If you have something to say or need a shoulder to cry on , come on in,
grab a chair and stay awhile . You'll be glad you did.

Hey ladies, I have been busy this morning trying to get in touch with someone in charge at a camp Michael went to this weekend. He and Rick had an overnight stay and the next morning, Michael had over 10 bug bites, 5 on his face and more on his arms. I thought it was mosquito bites but this morning they are just as red and prominent as the day he got them. I am putting OTC meds on it to keep it from itching but I am also taking him to the doctor...I'm thinking bed bugs--GROSS! A bite on his wrist is a bit hard and it is radiating to another bite near his palm, maybe a spider? I dunno, but it's freakin' me out a little bit, I just want a professional opinion. Mike's only complaining of the one on his wrist but those ones on his face look terrible. I even wrote his teacher a note just to let her know that I know they are there. Once he had a mosquito bite near his eye which got swollen since he scratched it, then he came home with a note from the health room about having a swollen eye... i know, i know! Sheesh! OK, enough ranting from me.

Kempy, Hey girl! Sorry your house hasn't sold yet, that must be so stressful. Did you leave a statue of St. Joseph in the yard? I dunno if it works but it's worth a shot eh? I think Julie mentioned doing that too. Can't hurt anyway. Hey, don't feel too bad about the weight coming back on. I'm in the same boat too. But this is my time of year--when I get back on track. Weird time to do it during the holidays but it always seems to work for me. I haven't done it yet (gotten back on track) but I am close.

Cherie, glad Hannah enjoyed her birthday and that ultimate cool gift. You will have a rock star on your hands.

Cal, I know despite the traffic and headache you will do your duty and get out and vote

I guess I better get back to work. Chat later!

Hi. Guys I suppose I should check in too huh? Well, I havent been on my diet since the day Brit came home and it is showing. I seriously think it is too stressful. It was easier when she was away because at least I came home to a quiet house and had a routine but now we have counselors here every other day and we are on eggshells. She has already managed to get suspended from school for lighting up on a school bus. AARGGHH!!

Domino(my stray black and white kitty) is dying. We tok him to the vets Saturday because we thought he had a head cold because he was not himself and sneezy but when they checked him out they told us he is in congestive heart failure. There is nothing we can do but wait for the heartattack to happen. He was born with a heart murmur. So we are sad but also glad that we gave him the love and respect that he deserves and that we did all we could for him. He seems to be doing good today but the vet said maybe a couple months tops. If he looks like he is in pain we will have to make the decision to have him put to sleep.

So basically my life right now is sucky and I am not very happy and that is why I havent been around. I keep trying to get on track and for some reason I cant even though I KNOW I have to. I will try again tomorrow.

On the plus side I leave for Florida in 6 weeks!!!

I love you guys!!

Wow Angie I didnt' know she was still acting up. My brother got his son in a school for 18 months and they are really keeping there fingers crossed that it will help. They do see a little bit of improvement in his attitude. He is actully starting to talk about his future and what he wants to do with his life. Maybe Brit will just grow out of this. I guess this is time for all of us to try to regain control of our lives. I know I am trying. I am just going to take it one day at a time. Also, I am so sorry about your kitty. Spart is getting up there in age and I have been thinking about him dying and it really upsets me. But, you are right you have given that baby a great life.

Cherie we moved to Katy, TX. I guess I need to change my location under the pic now. Joe got a promotion and it is really nice over here. I love how it is so planned out. I am really amazed at all of the landscaping that is done. I am not used to a place that cares this much. I mean they cared back home but this is proof! Did you find a home, I thought the last time you were on you were looking.

Noelle my mom is supposed to be going today to bury him so hopefully that will help. I have been saying my prayers every night and I am not going to give up. It HAS to sell.

My brother had surgery last week (twice) and was doing pretty bad but they think he should be able to go hom Wednesday. It is going to be about a 6 week recoverery and then they want to do another surgery in abotu 3 months. I am not really certainwhat that one is for. It was pretty scary for a bit there. I would just sit on top of the phone waiting for someone to call me a keep me informed. I hated being so far away them.

It is really good to be back guys. I can't beleive I waiting so long. Being back makes me feel better!

Kempy... awwww.. I wish I still lived in Texas.. I was in The Woodlands before I moved here. We would have been close enough to get together once a week! Katy is a great place. Congrats to Joe on the promotion! The girls will be going to Alvin, TX sometime over the Christmas Holidays.

Angie.. I am so sorry to hear about Brit... I am not looking forward to my girls growing up...

Noelle.. how is Michael today? That is awful about all the bug bites!

Carol.. how are you surviving Election Day?

Hi Julie! I miss talking to you!

I was told earlier this morning that today is offically Tow Mater Day! Alan is buying Cars today and bringing it over for us to watch. I STILL haven't seen the movie, he has a few times, and the girls have a couple of times.. but I never had anyone to go with. So I FINALLY get to see CARS! Tow Mater Day! hahaha....

But first before he comes over, I am going to the Y for an hour long cardio session.. probably on the elliptical. I had a nice 45 minute session with the elliptical last night with a nice 50 minute weight machine session.

This morning, I got up at 6 am and did 30 minutes of pilates and swiss ball crunches.

OK.. back to work here.... I hope you guys have a great day... Talk to you soon!

Oh.. and I fogot to say Hi to DIPS!!!!!! forgive me... I am at work.. and work SUCKS.

Angie... I reread your entry.. and I am sorry about your kitty. I hope things get less stressful at home for you.

Kempy.. I did get a house.. I love it... and the girls love it... nothing like the house I had in the Woodlands, but it's still nice. I MISS living in Texas so much... I too loved how everything was planned out down there.. The Woodlands had jogging trails that would take you from one side of town to the other side of town... it was great.. and so pretty there.... sigh... I really do miss living there.

Well.. I am going outside for the rest of my lunch.. it's 72 degrees here.. and I am going to take advantage of that! Talk to you all later!

Hi ladies, did y'all get out and vote? I did! Used the electronic ballot thingie too and it was quick. I by-passed all the seniors who are afraid of it and got in and out in no time.
Anyway, I had a good correspondence going with one of the directors at the camp and I am very happy with their response and remedy of the situation. I took Mike to the docs and was just advised that he had a really bad reaction to the bites and to just use some Benadryl and the hydrocortisone cream. This morning everything almost looks back to normal, thank God.

Angie, we missed you around here. I'm sorry about your troubles and you know where to find us when you need us. Sending love and prayers for both Brit and Domino. I'm with Kempy, let's just try to get control where we can.

Cherie, Tow-mater day? He's gotta be the best character in that movie. Enjoy it. on your workouts and planning--you go girl!

Kempy, I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Was he ill? It's so hard when you can't be near family in situations like those. Praying for a speedy recovery. You guys talking about your cats has made me realize that I only have one cat under the age of 3--the other 5 are at least 10 or older! I have to prepare myself when they're ready to go. On the plus side though, I started feeding these feral cats down by the boat marina and they are so friendly. There are at least 12 that I've counted and most of them are fixed, but I just saw 3 kittens so I know not all of them are.

Hi to Dips, Cal and everyone. Gotta get back to work.

Noelle... glad to hear that Michael is doing better! And yes... I watched Cars last night.. very cute movie.... Glad Alan was there to point out all the little details for me. Have to say, the Michael Schumacher Ferrari was my favorite!

I ran 5 miles on the treadmill yesterday evening before Alan got there... and I paid for it all night long. There is a tendon or something that runs up on the inside of my ankle that HURTS... and my back is sore, sorta like I compressed it while running. It needs to be popped. I forgot to stretch it over the swiss ball this morning, but I will tonight.

I got into a pair of cool low rise Abercrombie and Fitch kakhi capris that I got from a friend over the summer. When I got them, I couldn't even pull them up over my hips.. this morning, they are fitting like a glove! Whoo Hoo.. so the running last night WAS worth it! I may be in pain, but I look good! hahaha

OK.. running payroll tomorrow, so I need to get busy here getting stuff into the computer. I'll check in later!

Cherie I can't believe you would have been so close. How long ago was it that you lived here? I have been taking advantage of the walking trails here too. I just bought a pedomater and I am going to try it today. The girls love it too. I can tell when Rhea gets tired though.Hs estopps smelling everything and just concentrates on the walk. I think she is saying in her head, lets get home NOW!!! I still have not seen the movie. I love cartoons though. I think I am still a kid.

Noelle do they think he might be really allergic to bug bites? Joe and I both react diffrent to bites. Mine usually last forever and his go away fast. My brother had a stomach infection 3 times and the doc said that he needed surgery to clear that up. So, they removed a bit of his colon and when the sewed it back there was some blood left. Well, that blood basically ate through the incision and left a hole. So, they had to go fix that. He had to have his abdominal area cleaned out b/c of all of the stuff that leaked out. (TMI) He is doing better though and that is what matters.

Angie I hope you are doing ok today.

I started up with WW again Monday and have been doing ok. I did gget a salad from Quiznos today though. I felt like I wasn't getting enough fats into my diet with the last few days of eating. I don't plan on eating like this all day though. I only used a tiny amount of dressing too but it didn't have real blue cheese on it. I am not going to lie, it was GREAT!. I did drive around a bit this morning. I schedules a massage at a place called Massae Envy. It is crazy. They give you the first one for $39 and then if you want you can become a member and pay $49/ month and you get one massage a month for that price. I had to jump on the cheap price even if I don't do the membership. I do have a few things I need to do today so I need to stop chating. I hope to see more of you guys posting.

Default sunny day, keeping the clouds away......

Kempy, I had to laugh out loud when I saw that comic too so I just had to use it as an avatar for a little while at least--so irreverent, but that's exactly the kind of sick humor I like You have got me gearing up for re-starting WW (again) on Monday. I am going to get all the leftover halloween candy out of the house and stock up my fridge and shelves with healthy stuff. I have to work the kinks out of my knees too though, they've been clicking and popping like crazy! Getting older sucks!

Wow, those problems your brother was having sound serious. Glad he's getting better.

Cherie, cool beans about the "new" capris--and low rise too! I can't even get my butt to cooperate You worked it girl, so go show it off. As for the pain you're having, you should've asked Alan to give you a nice post-workout rub down

Angie, how are you doing today?

Well, I really have to get back to work, it's a short school day so I've got about 2.5 hrs more to work. Chat more later.

Hello everyone! Noelle.. I wish I had tomorrow, or even Monday off.. but here, they are normal work days. Sigh... I ran payroll today, which is why I haven't been here all day. But it's off.. and I am just trying to look busy now.

Last night was a good night, I went to the Y and did 45 minutes on the elliptical and 40 minutes on the weight machines... this morning, I got up and did 30 minutes of pilates and swiss ball crunches... tonight.. I plan on running 5 miles on my treadmill.

Did any of you catch the Biggest Loser last night? This season isn't nearly as good as the first two seasons. I am very dissapointed... The only person I like that is left is Marty.....

Kempy, I was in the Houston area from 1996 til 2002 when I moved here to OKC after my seperation with Steven. I loved that area and always wanted to move back, but it seems my life is here now. Have you been out to Kemah yet? That is probably my favorite place there... If you go, eat at Babin's. I am sure it won't compare to your creole/cajun food you are used to, but again, it's my favorite.. blackened catfish with capers!

OK.. time to get back to work... Hope everyone is having a great Thursday! Woo Hoo.. it IS Thursday..... I just live for my Friday's!

I was browsing the exercise thread and came upon this link to a website: mapmyrun.com -- I tried it, and it's great! You put in your starting point and plot your route (whether walking or running or anything) and it will tell you how many miles it is. On the side there is a calculator for your stats to tell you how many cals you burn and what your pace is. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Cherie, sorry you don't get the holiday off... I remember at my old job having Veteran's day off, but we would have to work on Discoverer's day to get the day after Thanksgiving off. Thanks for sending your info. I'll update you the rest when I get it. Great workout you had. Don't you just love it when you've got the motivation to get up and move like that?

Hey, I wasn't getting any emails tso I thought no one was here. I am stuck at home right now. Joe has the car and he went to the camp. Since we had to move here we lost his work truck so we are down to one vehicle. That is ok though b/c I am a home body. I want to paint the spare bathroom today. I need to re-tape the trim though. I am kind of off now that I have looked at it.

Cherie Joe has been down to Kemah but I havn't yet. I want to go though. We have a Babin's in Katy. I got a flier for it and it really looks good. We have been trying a new resturant each week just to see what they have around here. It is amazing how fast my list is growing. I like it here so far but I really havn't been out much.

Noelle I am going to try that site. Now that I am in a new place I have no idea how far things are. I sent that email you sent me to everyone!

I just wanted to check in. I have to get back to this house work. I'll chat later.
