Oh, it is so sad. Three firefighters have been killed and two critically injured. We're just east of the fire. I'm sure I'll smell the smoke this evening. I have friends that live near the area--I hope their home doesn't burn. My mom in Utah called to say that her friends from all over the country have called to ask if I am okay. I am, and the fire won't get near me, but it is still very scary.
Thanks for asking Mare ~ Angie and I are about 80 miles west of the fires, in north San Diego county, along the coast. The smoke here is pretty heavy though considering the distance, this is because the Santa Ana winds are blowing today. I was in Los Angeles today and could see and smell smoke the entire 110 miles I headed towards home.........
but most important ~ PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILIES THAT HAVE LOST THEIR FIREFIGHTER ~ 4 SO FAR....ARSON TURNED INTO MURDER!
I saw this on the news earlier and it's terrible. Besides the four firefighters that lost their lives, there are over 400 people trapped in a RV park, so so sad.
The firefighter was in his early 20s and burned over 90% of his body. He's in a better place now, but it is sad.
I heard that they have a "person of interest". I don't know when it became politically incorrect to call someone a "suspect".
If this is the arsonist, I hope they charge him with 5 murders in addition to all the property damage, loss of animals and who knows how many people had to seek medical attention because of him.
Hey MARE ~ I think the reason the news reportes are saying a "person of interest" is because the police down here are saying that that particular person IS NOT a suspect at this time. But between me and you...of course I think it is the GUY!! I HOPE SO! Quick work by the fire and law enforcement agencys.
