Default Root Canal

I went to the dentist a couple weeks ago and found I had a cracked tooth. I went in today to get a crown to cover it and during the process found out that I had to have another root canal... That's make root canal # 4. I don't know what is up with me teeth. Why can't I just get a regular cavity like a normal person? Why must I always go straight to the root canal. I asked if there was anything I can do other than brushing and flossing to protect my teeth and they suggested flouride treatments. Does anyone here take flouride treatments.

Oh, and to make matters worse it took 3 shots to get me numb and I could feel them drilling.

Default

I have had two root canals, one of which had to be redone by an endodontist, long story! I also have four crowns. My dentist has me using a toothpaste called flouridex before bed each night. Use it and don't rinse afterwards, just spit and let it sit on your teeth. It has several times the amount of flouride that regular pastes have. I have had no cavities since. It is $13 a tube and you can only get it in their office, but a lot cheaper than the dental work!

Default Have you always had problems?

I think I would question whether all this is necessary. Perhaps you could get a second opinion. Sometimes I get these things in the mail for free x-rays and a check up. If you get those, then you could go in there as if you're seeking a new dentist. Don't say anything about what is happening with your current dentist. If they recommend one as well then you'll know.

Otherwise, you could pay for the second opinion with a dentist of YOUR choice, not one referred by your own dentist.

This reminds me. I have to make an appointment to go back to mine so I can have my breasts beaten.
