Smile Making friends

Hi everyone. I joined WW the last part of April '06. This is the first diet that I can honestly say isn't a diet. It's been a lifestlye change for me and my family and I'm very grateful to have had the courage to stick with it. Since joining WW I have lost 51 lbs. and feel alot better than I ever have. As with any change in eating habits, I have had my ups and downs and it's been some what difficult doing this alone. There are other members of my family doing WW, but they don't seem as commited to weightloss as I am which makes it harder for me to be around them. My husband isn't much help either other than he loves the new food changes. I guess what I'm hoping to get from anyone out there is someone to talk to that has the same struggles. I'm a S.A.H.M so time is not an issue for me, my son loves trying to help me excercise or just doing fun activities. Looking forward to making a few new friends.

Welcome, Wyattsmama! You will find that many people here are in the same boat as you, me included. I NEED to talk about it sometimes, and cheer for me when I have a great weigh-in, or rant about frustrations. Family and friends don't always understand that, but the members here do.

Thanks, Kelly. That's great you're starting your second 10%. Are you doing flex or core? I chose flex because it keeps me more accountable.

WyattsMama ! I am in the same boat you are.....there are people around me also OP, but they aren't very committed & it makes it really hard. I would love to have some one to talk to who has the same 'focus' I do.

How old is your son? I am a SAHM as well....I have a daughter that is 8yo (3rd grade) & a son that is 4yo. My husband works on the North Slope (Alaskan Oil Fields), so he is home for 2 weeks & then gone for 2. Essentially I am on my own 50% of the time, but it works for us.

I am on flex as well.....I rejoined WW 7 weeks ago. I had joined before, but fell off the wagon due to feeling alone in this. It was just 'easier' to just ignore the problem. Well, we both know where that got me. I agree, WW is a way of life & I am 200% committed to it now!

Keep us posted on how you are doing

Wyattsmama....I am doing flex. I started on my own on August 8th, and felt that I could do it by myself as opposed to going to meetings, etc. I've never really dieted before, so this was all new to me. I had seen both of my SIL's lose weight with WW over the last year, however.

After about two weeks, I decided to go to a meeting just to get the info and to try their scale. I was sure there was info I was lacking, and let's just say my scale should be in the trash. I never thought I would or could ever be "one of those people" who enjoys going to a meeting. How wrong I was! I went to that first meeting, and haven't missed a week since. The meetings are time for ME. I enjoy them. I'm actually happy to get on the scale each week! My last Dr. visit was coincidentally (NOT) also on August 8th. I stood on the scale backwards and told the nurse not to tell me what my weight was. I didn't want to know. Now I NEED to know.

Additionally, when I decided to do the WW plan, I told myself from the get-go that this IS NOT A DIET!! This is me, and this is my life. If I want to live a long healthy life, there have got to be some major changes. So this is it...a new lifestyle, not a diet. It works for me! Since August 8th I've lost 32 pounds, and I have no intention of stopping until I hit my goal...as soon as I figure out what that is!

Best of luck to you!!

Hey there!
I'm on my 3rd go-around with WW (lost 32lbs the first time) and yes, it can be a struggle even when other people around me are OP. I tend to binge eat a lot, and I am home a lot (I work odd hours during the day) so that is always a temptation.

DH is in good shape and can eat what he wants - it's a challenge to make meals that he will like that are also OP - but this weekend I made some crockpot chili, and I made a different recipe last week that he loved, also.

I just need support to keep me going - so I know what you mean. It's not easy - but we're all here for each other!

Thank-you everyone for the inspiring words. It's good to know there's others out there with the same struggles. My son is 3 and loves to be active, although I admit some days I wish he wasn't so active. However, seeing his engergy helps me to get up off the couch and do something for myself. This week hasn't been a good one for me as I started off being sick, so eating well wasn't a top priority. Luckily, I didn't go too far overboard and today I've got back on track again and feel pretty good about myself.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and if anyone would like to swap emails, I'd love to hear from you. Please send me a private message and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
