Smile What happened to me?!?!?

Hey everyone! I am so glad I found this site! I recently went shopping with my 15 year old daugher and was shocked when a pair of 18 jeans wouldn't button. I'm only 5"1 so this is so not a good thing. I've got about 70 pounds to lose and this was my wake up moment. I would love to learn how others have conquered emotional eating....it does me in.
A little about me....I'm 37, sahm of 5 living in a small town in Oklahoma. I really am looking forward to getting to know others

Welcome Amy. It's good to see someone else from Oklahoma here. I am also in a small town here. Congratulations on finding this site and the help you get here is awesome. WTG on getting started. As far as the emotional eating, it is hard for me too at times. But, I have managed to struggle through. Some days I do great, sometimes not. But always back on program with my very next meal. You will have times that you do everything perfect and other times that you feel like crap about your eating, but sticking it out for the long haul is what counts. Don't give up if you have a bad meal/bad day/bad week.

Hi Amy, I think you may do two things about your life

1. You eating habiTs
2. You exercise habits.

There are a lot of good books to read in the library.
You can pick them up and learn something if you want to

Hi Amy,
Welcome! I lived in a small town in OK for 13 years before moving to the East coast. It's a nice place to raise kids.

Emotional eating is tough. I believe the trick is realizing that one bad day does not give me permission to overeat forever. I have to live a new lifestyle, not get hung up in one bad moment.

Hi Amy! Welcome... and to all you other newbies also!

As to how to do it... well there are variations but it all boils down to "eat right and move your butt."

Go for it! Glad you are here!

Hello and welcome!!!! I don't know if at this point I'm one to give advice, but for me I just decided enough is enough, I'm not getting any younger (I'm 42) and NOW is the time. My children were are a big motivation for me, they need a fit, trim, healthy and happy mother who can be a role model. They have been incredibly supportive.

The first few weeks were the hardest, but now I'm on a roll and it has gotten easier, although I know that I've got a loooong road ahead of me. Whenever I fell the need to eat for just the sake of eating I wait 10 minutes and if the urge is still there I make it a healthy choice and when I'm done pigging out on veggies I am so glad that I made it veggies and not anything else. I also keep no junk in the house and this benefits everyone. Good luck and I hope to hear from you soon.

Default Smile What happened to me?!?!?

Thanks for the welcome! I really appreciate it. I also will not buy any larger size of clothing but I think I've been in denial for a while since they are all so tight!. I didn't really know just how bad they looked on me though until my daugter started taking pictires. Can't deny that-wow.
This looks like a great place for support and we all need that!

'm not sure if you are interested but we are starting up a challenge in our group. You and anyone else is welcome to join in if you like.

Go to the support group section and click on " Help I've been living in denial" Look for the rules there. We are still tweeking it so this is a great time to get on board.
