Red face Carb Cravers question

I'm new and trying to figure out a few things - what is the difference between having a turkey sandwich and counting that as one protein and 2 starches, OR counting that as a carb craver meal that is limited to 3 times / week? Same with rice and stir fry veggies, for example...

Thanks so much - I've learned a lot already by reading various threads and recipes!

Carb Craver meals (prepared at home vs restaurant) count as 1 protein and, according to my gold plan book, can be used up to one time each day. On days you have CC meal, you are supposed to have 10 glasses of water vs 8 glasses. My COD also asks that we take the carb ender supplements when doing a carb craver meal (white bean extract supplement) BUT some folks don't agree that the carb ender supplements do anything.

The turkey sandwich you speak of needs to be on light bread, uses 2 oz of LOW SODIUM/LO FAT lunchmeat, and includes lettuce.

As far as "what the difference is" - I can't really answer that. My COD says the difference is that you take carb enders with a CC meal and she feels this should be written in the plan book, but it isn't (probably due to some regulations).

Personally I don't do many CC meals; I just seem to overlook it.

Oh...I thought you could only do a carb cravers meal when you take the supplements. Is that not true?

Thanks, Joni...I did find the one per day note in the book after looking again. And thanks for explaining about using all of the ingredients and adding water. I'm not sure why, but in my book, they have handwritten "3x weekly - morning/afternoon." (I am doing this on my own - I am a student & also have huge medical bills, so couldn't afford the program right now, but was ready to try to get healthy and thought it might help me feel better. I'm using a blue book that my friend gave me, but am operating on the gold plan...I think that's right: I started at 169 and want to lose about 35 lbs., I don't currently exercise much, and I am using Luna or Pria bars.) Anyway, I'm curious about why they've suggested only 3x/week instead of the 1x/day as the book says. I will also pick up a generic carb ender supplement.

FYI... The "new" information from the COD is to limit the Carb Cravers to 1-2 times per week. However, if your COD hasn't told you that... lucky you!

Meagain - You are supposed to take the Carb Enders but many don't take them, or buy them from somewhere else. Also, if you had a Carb Craver and forgot to take your Carb Enders, I don't think you would all of a sudden have a 5lb gain that would not have been there if you'd have had the Carb Enders. (But I do take them before Pizza, which is the only Carb Craver I do).

Angela - The difference in the carb cravers as opposed to counting 2 starches and a protein, etc. is that (1) you get more starch in a serving (like two tortillas or 1/2c rice or two slices of bread), and (2) you only count the whole thing as a protein so you still get your starches for the day. It's like an allowed cheat to keep you sane and OP.

Hi, I've never used the carb craver thingie..maybe I should..I've been just really wanting some spegg/&meat sauce..but have not had it because I'm using it as a reward for when I lose, and since I've been yoyoing so much,(which is really really gotten me down) I havn't had it. I'm probably doing a million things wrong with this reward system..but if I could count on a regular loss, then I'd fit it in,as it is now I'm all over the place, and going nuts. Focused..(should I rename myself? mebbe)

Focused - The Carb Cravers is there for a reason. I used it a couple of times a week at first, and then not so much lately, except for pizza every 2-3 weeks. If you need it, use it. It's part of the program. It may be what you need to stay "focused"

Another good example -- I've had my 2 starches for the day, but if I'm craving starches tonight, I'll do the CC French Toast (3 slices of light bread!) It helps me keep my sanity and teaches me how to appropriately give in to a craving (i.e. NOT with the box of Cheese Nips I really want.)
