Default Week one sucess or not sucess that is the question.

So I completed one week of dieting and working out. I lost 3 pounds when I stepped on the scale this moring. However in the back of my mind I'm thinking is that all. I worked my but off for a whole week and 3 lousy pounds is all I lost. Now I know this train of thought is illogical and a healthy diet loses up to 2 pounds of week. Yet I still feel this way. And yes I also know that I have gained muscle this week and muscle ways more then fat. It's just so agravating not to see a huge OMG change. But I'm not giving up. In matter of fact I'm going to motivate myself more. For every ten pounds gone I am going to by something to help me in my quest for weight loss. Here is the first three things I am shooting for. -10 lbs=a new workout DVD (yoga or dancing I have always wanted to try) -20 lbs= not sure yet maybe some weights -30 lbs= rollar blades (pads and helmet included). I use to love to skate I want to do it agian.

It is most definitely a success! 3 pounds may not seem like a lot when we have so much weight to lose, but it is a very good loss. It took awhile to add on all of the weight and it won't come off overnight. Do not compare yourself to shows like the Biggest Loser - that is not reality for losing weight in a safe, healthy manner. 1 - 2 pounds is the recommended amount per week. Sometimes it will be more, and sometimes less, but over time it will really add up. Your true progress can't be measured in individual weeks, but only over months of time. That might seem very daunting because we all want immediate results, but it is reality.

Please feel free to join us over in the 300+ chat thread and congratulations on your progress so far!

I really know how you feel. I was just saying yesterday how long it is going to take to get this weight off. But even if it takes you 2 years to do it, think about where you were 2 years ago. That doesnt seem that long ago now, does it? And one of our other posters Ammi reminded me that it will take less time to lose the weight than it took to me to gain it. Hey girl, I have a lot farther to go than you, and you've already lost 11 lbs! Look at it that way if it helps you--"At least I dont have to lose as much as Amy"!!

Find something that weighs 3 pounds around your house and pick it up. That may help you see that you have really lost a significant amount in just 1 week! Just think, "That's not on my body anymore!"

Sharon hit it right on the nose the way I think of it. If you average only 2 lbs a week, in one year you will have lost 104 lbs! Heck, if you only average 1 lb a week, in one year you will have lost 52 lbs!

On Sept. 27, 2007 would you rather weigh 293 lbs (or more) - or 241 lbs?

Remember too... 3 pounds lighter is better than what you weighed last week. You can go forward, or you can go back, and we all know you don't want to go back, right?

Hang in there! Congrats on the good work so far!

Three pounds is a great start! Yeah I know we all wish our fat would just melt off instantly but reality is it takes hard work and commitment. But please stick around this forum and you will see that we find ways to make it fun and encourage each other and keep each other going!

Think about three pounds of butter and how big that is... THAT is gone from your body!
