Default tuna kits

I was just curious if anyone has had these and what to count then for???? They have 3 oz light tuna, light mayo(about a tablespoon), about a tablespoon of sweet relish, and 6 wheat crackers....It only has 210 calories in it so I have been counting it as a protein and a starch. I was going to count 2 condiments but with the whole thing being only 210 calories I havent been.

Also, I found a bar that I havent tried yet but they are similar to the lite. It's the Special K bar. It has 20 more calories, 1 more fat gram,2 more fiber and 2 more protein,I bought the chocolate PB.Ill let you know how it is.I use the slim fast high protein bars. When I use them I only have them in place of one light.(Actually it probally wouldnt matter for me because of the proteins and starches I pick I am always under 1200 calories for a day.) They have30 more calories,2 more fat, 2 more fiber and 5 more protein and they are good. I like them alot.

Thanks alot!!!

Angelica - I think you're right to count the tuna kit as a protein and starch. I think Lea Ann uses them a lot, and I think that is how she was told by her COD to count it. Maybe she'll jump in here.

Yep--my COD says 1P and 1S and I guess you could count the mayo as a fat or condiment but I don't. Kristi is right though about the tuna not being enough so if you wanted to youcould always add a string cheese or some nuts to make up for it. I don't like to get cheated out of protein because I don't like being hungry! I eat these a lot because they are so easy for work.

Angelica--1200 calories does not sound like enough--if I drop too far below 1300 I start to "hold on".

I think a protein and starch sounds right too-it's not much lower in calories than a lean cuisine-and those definately don't have what we would consider a normal protein serving.

JM--too true

Kristi--they are Starkist, Lunch to Go, and I get the chunk lite tuna in water. It has everything you need, tuna pouch, crackers, red. calorie mayo, relish, spoon, napkin and even a mint!

Calories--260
Fat--10
Sodium--550 (how does this measure compared to lean cuisine??)
Carbs--20
Fiber --2
Sugars--5
Protein--22

Anyway--there are very convenient and I like them and it's about the only fish I get. I am making Cassi's tilapia tomorrow though--big stretch for me!

Boo-The sodium in the LCs run anywhere from 500-800mg . . . . You and Angelica must be using different kits if hers are 210. Yours are definately right on in terms of being similar to frozen meals.

i am being shorted the mint.Definitly not fair, lol. Oh and the napkin! I buy mine at walmart.Mine is starkist too.

I dont "hold on" at all. I was switched to gold at 198 and I lost all the way to 168 with eating between 1100-1300 calories a day. Most days was like 1100-1200. The only times I would go higher is if I ate red meat or a LC meal. About 168 I went way off plan (that was before my surgery) and well didnt get back on plan till about 3 weeks ago.The only thing I notice is I am hungry but I am losing good. I noticed that I was hungry back before too.I was losing good so i never changed anything or asked.

I think I will add 1/2 protein though since I am being shorted. Thanks for pointing that out .

....do you think I could have one of them 4oz yogurts for my 1/2 protein?

Oh and I ate the special K bar.OMG they are awesome!!!!!! I will definitly be buying them again.yummy!!!!I think it is the most comparable in taste to the la lites in my opinion. The texture is different though.Let me know what you all think if you try it thanks!

mine is in the can but there is very little water in the can. yours has the 3 oz pouch. So thats a serving of protein since its the pouch right? Mine is a 3 oz can. So since its not the 6oz can thats why its 1/2 protein?

do they sell those kits with chicken? I can go look but i am just curious if anyone knows. I hate canned tuna, brings back memories of having to eat tuna fish casserole once a week when I was a kid.

yeah they have the chicken kind. But the only kind I have seen is the premixed kind and it is high in calories and fat. I was wanted the chicken kind too since I like chicken better but when I looked at the calories and fat I said no way,lol and just stick with the tuna kits. They might have the kind thats not mixed but I just have never seen them.
