Default Survivor 13: Cook Islands - Warning, possible spoilers!

Is anyone watching? What do you think?

I was rooting for Team Hiki (the black team) for this episode. I was sad to see them lose so early. What took them so long to put together the boat? I wanted them to keep Sekou, for some reason Sundra was annoying to me. I would have voted her off.

I really like Cow Boy on Team Puka (the asian team). I'm glad that he's starting to fit in with the trip. I was worried for him since he's older and an immigrant/refugee (as opposed to a 1st or 2nd generation American). I hope he lasts a long time...Is he supposed to be the Bruce from last season?

Flicka is lucky! If Team Raro (the white team) had lost, she might have gotten kicked off for letting the chicken free. Hey, does anyone think she did it on purpose? I didn't, but my friend said that she thinks Flicka let the chickens go because she didn't want to eat them....Is Flicka supposed to be the Courtney from last season?

I also like Billy from Team Aitutaki (the hispanic team). He had me laughing with the raft and his parents story.

Thoughts ladies?? Am I the only one watching? Are you pulling for a team/person yet? I know it's the first episode, but I know you must have some favorites (even if its only the ones that got the most air time).

I'm latina so i'm going for the Hispanic tribe but I like the Asian tribe a lot too!

It's an interesting premise that could backfire but I'll keep watching to see what happens

Isn't Ozzy cute? Yul's not bad either

I'm not rooting for any team in particular or person yet. I like to see how their personalities unfold over a few weeks before I pick a favourite.

I think a few people are making the race thing an issue for themselves when they don't really need to. They should just be a team instead of worrying about "representing" anyone but themselves and their tribe to win. Besides, eventually its all going to get turned upside down anyway and everyone will either get moved into other tribes or merge into one big one.

I'm glad the ladies stuck together on the vote last night though it may cost them at the next challenge. One thing I find on the show quite often is that the women will all talk like they are sticking together but never actually do when it comes down to it. It really ticked me off that the two men in Team Hiki stepped forward to decided between the two of them who was going to exile island and basically dismissed the women. If that had been me I would have been ticked off that I wasn't included in the decision making as a team member. Then again I would have probably stepped up with them and forced them to include me

Not only that what was the point of sending the chicken "thief" be exiled. It's not like he took their chicken. Personally I would have picked the person who seemed the strongest or who appeared to be leading the team that came in first just to throw a spanner in their works and make them weaker for the next challenge -just MHO.

Cowboy is a bit odd but I think that team Puka need his knowledge - he is a smart guy, fit and has knowledge about island life that would help out the tribe.

Ozzy is totally cute! I think this team has bonded pretty well except for the rock musician - I already feel some tension/irritation there for him from the ladies in this tribe.

Flicka seems to be the flake of the bunch. I was thinking that she may be a vegetarian and deliberately freed the chickens or that she had a dingbat moment and just forgot they were there and lifted the box withoug thinking.

IAWTC, maybe it was a "shame on you" ploy. It doesn't make sense though. It was a weak strategic move.

Season looks interesting overall.

I watched...nobody really jumped out at me...will have to wait and see.

I thought they picked 'chicken man' just because he was the only one that had any attention brought to him so far. Jeff has a way of doing that. They were so behind during the contest they probably couldn't even see who was stong and who wasn't....though some of those fit guys would seem like the obvious choice.

what did you think of the clue on exile island?....did you think his interpretation was correct? I think it has more to do with where they stand on a spot on the island when the southern island falls out of their line of vision.

Anyhow the show didn't grab me....time will tell.

So far I am rooting for the Asian tribe. But my second choice is the black tribe. Then the Mexican (but i dont like one of them) then the white, (they seem cocky to me?) Sorry dont know the tribes names yet.

Did anyone watch the show last night?

I think it was silly for Aitutaki to throw the challenge but I could see how Billy was getting on their nerves for slacking off (or as he put it - eating and conserving his energy while his team mates burned theirs. ), but it might come back and bite them on the rear in the next challenge.

If I were Christina I would back off and not make an enemy out of Ozzy. Instead of fighting against him I would work with him and suck up all of his outdoorsman knowledge so I would know how to do it and not have to rely on him - then later you can kick him off if need be. Heh, Heh!

Liz - you were right about the clue. The second clue revealed a little more and it was about where you stood on the island - One of the tribe members of Puka (can't remember his name but he is the really tall, good looking one - Yul?) was sent there last night and he found the idol.

Team Raro - what a dumb argument about the shelter. Everytime it rains on any of the shows everyone is cold, wet and miserable from sleeping on damp ground (not to mention the bugs, etc.) I would have pitched in with no complaint to make a raised floor.

Team Hiki - what the heck were they doing with that flint? I thought the guy was going to cut his thumb off with the machete! I yelled at the t.v. " Oh, just give it two one of the women and they'll get the fire started!" and that's exactly what happened!

I would have immunity if I had of gone to exile island! which would have been a good thing....cause I would probably get voted off for sure...I have no survival skills....other than maybe start an IV on a rock.

anyhow I hope the show improves...it is a bit boring so far.

Take care

Bill's parting words of "if there was heavy metal tribe, I might have fit in better" made me laugh. So the next installment of Survivor should be Rockstar Survivor and the tribes would be split into groups of drummers, guitarists, bass players and vocalists -

or you could pit rappers, rockers, punks and jazz musicians against each other and see who makes it to the end

Bonniebell - that's the same guy I was referring to, the tall hunky Korean man! I think he is the best looking guy there too.

I'm not a huge fan or reality shows either but I have watched Survivor from the first season onward. What I like about it is that there are physical and mental challenges involved, people learn new skills and are often totally out of their element- they often end up learning about themselves in the process and pushing their own limits. Also the show keeps changing the settings and mixing things up every season. I also get to be an armchair tourist while watching the show.

My other indulgence has been Rockstar INXS and Supernova. I hadn't planned on watching those but the singers were so good and it IMHO better than AI as you got to watch the characters develop and you didn't have to sit through the painful and often sad train wreck footage of auditions that AI has.

I totally agree with you. If I knew I had been picked for Survivor, even after Season 1, I would have gone to the gym to get in physical shape, practiced a few things like running, going through obstacle courses, swimming (to build up strengths), archery, fishing, building a fire and also read up on survival techniques, what are the best clothes/footwear to wear for camping and other things that might help me. But then I used to be a Girl Guide - "always be prepared"

RE: AI - I can't watch it because of the horribly painful auditions. I also feel like you shouldn't be laughing at other people's expense so them showing embarring footage of people and making nasty comments etc. and seeing people being crushed by those comments and the rejection makes me feel uncomfortable.

Jin on Lost is cute as well as Mr. Eko.
