Default Just Diagnosed With PCOS

Hi Everyone,

I was just diagnosed with PCOS this week. Even though we are not TTC or anything found out through blood tests, saliva hormone tests, and just not feeling well for a really long time.

My old diet was just trying to eat less and everything in moderation, but with PCOS that will not work for me so I have had to cut the carbs and up the protein. It is kind of overwhelming right now.

I decided not to take Metformin or anything at first and really focus on my diet and supplements (acupuncturist is helping me with supplements) first and then if that does not work go ahead and try meds.

I have been trying so long to lose weight with nothing happening I guess I am a little skeptical about the carb cutting but I know I have to do it for my body, not just to lose weight.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

I was diagnosed not too long ago as well. I opted for meds. I am on Byetta and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. but for me, yes i had to lower my carbs and up my protien but not drastically. i am just mostly making an effort to eat a protien with each carb. The biggest difference for me has been exercise...WOW. It made 10 times the difference the lower carb did. My energy is through the roof and the weight is coming off MUCH easier. So make sure you dont just focus on protien versus carbs but exercise is a BIGGIE as well.
