Default Help!

I am new here and haven't posted very much. I just need help bad. I am so depressed. So very very depressed. I am bawling my eyes out as I am typing this post. I am tired of being fat and it is ruining my life. I am married (1 year) and have a 14 month old son. Before I got pregnant I weighed 125 lbs. I gained a devastating amount of weight while pregnant and now I weigh 200 lbs. I feel like I am trapped inside someone else's body. I am so tired of hating myself. I can't even look in the mirror anymore because everytime I do I think about how much I hate myself. I hate putting clothes on. I hate everything right now. I am tired and lazy all the time. I just can't stand ME anymore. It is hard to eat healthy right now because my husband lost his job and we have no money. I wish I could join a gym but no money for that either. I am so tired of being depressed and crying all the time. I am so tired of hating myself everyday. Help me!

I see two bright lights in your post RamseyLea.
1. I was tired and lazy when I started. That means that any time I got off my chubby butt, I used calories. I walked ... just walked for quite a while and lost fairly quickly at first.
2. If your husband is off work, can he stay with the baby while you walk?

OK maybe three. If you have to conserve your grocery money, you can try to just eat a little less. Whatever you have for supper, leave a little and have it for lunch tomorrow. Makes your food dollars go further and you're eating less calories.

Simple, but it's a place to start.

Hang in there! I know for me personally, and probably lots of others as well, its hard to make changes until you get to that breaking point where you are so upset with yourself that you have to make changes. I know how you feel about affording the gym too, i just have to walk/jog outside and I do some livingroom workouts too. Its at least something to start with

Good advice SusanB. I just wanted to say keep your chin up Ramseylea. You can get back to where you were or at least to a happy weight for you! Take your little one in his stroller & go for walks, several a day if able. You'll start to feel better about yourself soon! Don't let the depression take over, you need to take charge of your life now! You can do it, have faith in yourself.

I agree with the walking/home workouts. I couldn't afford the gym either for a long time (my boyfriend got laid off at Christmas and didn't get a really good job again until recently) and I started just going for walks and dancing around in my living room to music. Maybe take the baby with you by pushing him in a stroller if you want to go for walks and don't have a baby sitter. Pushing the stroller probably just helps since its more activity. Plus getting out of the house might make you feel better. I know what its like to be seriously depressed, its tough, and it seems like it will never end, but it always gets better eventually. It really does. I hope you feel better soon. Keep posting, talking to people can help. Lots of *hugs*

It won't be easy, but you can definitely do it. Of course, it's not easy for anyone, no matter how much they can afford, because you can't buy willpower and determination. I know where you're coming from - I'm a student, and I know it's probably easier for me since I only have myself to look after, butI also know that it's really hard to stretch the money sometimes. I've learned to make a lot of stuff from scratch - big bags of oats, beans, and rice can feel pricey when you buy them all at once, but they definitely work out cheaper in the long run, because you can stretch them so far. Try to buy produce at farm markets and fruit stands if you can - it's generally a lot cheaper because you're not paying for the transportation of the food - bananas can get expensive when they're flown form Ecuador! The same goes for the gym stuff - I find a lot of people don't even use their gym memberships, whether they can afford them or not. Maybe make a habit of taking your son for a walk every evening after dinner, or going for a bike-ride in the morning while your husband feeds your son. There are also lots of web sites with great exercises - I really like Self and Shape - they offer streaming video for a lot of their exercises, so you know if you're doing your form correctly.
You can do this - the more you do for yourself, the better you'll feel, regardless of the rest of your situation. You've definitely come to the right place, because you'll get a ton of support here. Good luck, and I know I'll see your success postings soon!

This really is the best place to come when you need a pick me up. We all go through this...we all understand and want to help. You know one thing that I just recently learned is that being a healhty eater really isnt as expensive as people think. I mean sure if you are on a rigid structured diet plan it can rack up the dough but bread, milk, cheese, meat, veggies, fruits are among some of the cheapest foods as long as you actually eat them and don't let them go bad....seriously an apple which is a great snack is lik 35 cents...can't beat that! Chicken breasts are like under a buck each....You can do this! Just make smart choices. Channel all of that hate into drive, inspiration, motivation. Learn to run, it is great for destressing! Find some stairs...use canned foods in your pantry as free weights. Check out fittv on cable (if ya have it) and tape some workouts. You just gotta get creative. I hope things get better for you
