I tried putting some in a batch of bread yesterday and ended up throwing the whole mess out. I think the brand I bought was "red" something but can't remember. It did say to keep it refrigerated though, and I never knew that.
The reason I added it was that the package said flaxmeal can be substituted for oil, 1 to 3 parts. It gave an example that if a recipe called for 1/2 cup of oil, you could use 1-1/2 cups of flaxmeal in place of the oil.
Didn't work in the bread but I'm not giving up and will try again. Tonight I'm making a bread with Shiner Bock beer in it and while it's not probably considered a whole food, it's an experiment and I'll more than likely take it to work tomorrow anyway. I'm looking for a nice hearty brown bread to make that I can spread the yocheese on. I think I'll try adding a
little flaxmeal at first and go from there.
Might I add ... my family thinks I've lost my mind.
