Thumbs up Sonoma Diet is Great!

So far I have lost 11 lbs in 12 days!!

I lost 9 lbs during Wave 1.

The only deviance from the plan would be that I eat more dry roasted peanuts for snacks than listed in the book. For snacks I either eat dry roasted peanuts or Tier 1 Vegetables.

I think the main key to success is portion control. I have been on lots of diets and all of them seem to tell you when you start out, "This isn't actually a diet but a new eating plan." But for some reason you spend most of the time eating DIET FOODS! I haven't had anything labeled "diet" yet on the Sonoma Diet! Except perhaps fat-free margarine on cooked veggies. I also put some granulated parmesan cheese and lots of Mrs Dash herbs & spices on them.

The only discouraging thing about this diet (Until I found this Fourm) is that you have to pay to interact with other Sonoma Dieters!

I got the book from the Public Library and copied the pull-out stuff on a copier.

Previously I have had the best results with WW. I lost 111 lbs in 14 mos. on WW in 1976 but felt so deprived by the time I got to goal that I soon put it all back on plus! One problem with WW is the large amounts of food you are allowed to eat to get to goal, THEN when you get there and start eating more normal foods you are used to those large amounts and before you know it you are starting to gain again. My wife has been telling me for years I need to learn to eat less/portion control! I think I've found the plan to use.

I'm a 64 year old male and when I started this diet I weighed 349 lbs.
