Red face Don't wanna be a fat mommy!

Hi Everyone! I am new here. I am very happily married for almost 3 years to Paul , and am the mother of an adorable 10 month old daughter, Kaia. I am the happiest woman in the world, except for my weight. I am 5'2, and weigh 217 lbs!! Yikes, how did I get this way!! I have never been skinny , but when I met Paul 9 years ago, I was 150! I hate having no energy, being cranky, always too hot, and buying clothes not because thy are cute, but because they fit! I would like to lose 80-90 lbs. Paul and Kaia and I deserve so much better. If anyone would like to buddy up, let me know!

Smile I am a fat mommy!

My husband of 7 years is named Paul too! I was 200 lbs when we married.

We have a 20 month old.
I am now 34 weeks pregnant at age 31.

I have had negative weight gain this pregnancy. I am about 262 lbs.
My doctor says the baby is growing well. I have had a relatively low appetite this preganancy. I do not have diabetes.

I am anxious to get on an exercise / diet program once I give birth.

I am a LAWL member. I like their program. I have been having issues with them properly freezing my account in their computer during my pregnancy - but I hope to resume their program in September.

My last preganancy I lost about 25 lbs right away after delivery and I BF for 8months. However, I gained 30 lbs in the subsequent 12 months drinking cola and junk food to stay awake/manage being a new mom. I don't want to make the same dieting mistake this time. I plan to BF for 2-3 months this go-around.

I would love to be an "non-fat" mommy eventually.

I am considering for exercise post-natal tapes and/or a stroller exercise group. Has anyone has success with this type of post-natal exercise?

Default I don't want to be a fat mommy,either!!!

This is a great thread. I always think of how my husband and daughter deserve better, and I do too!!!! I love shopping and would love to enjoy it again, instead of dreading it.

I thought I was going to be a calorie counter, but after a lot of thought yesterday I think I'm going with South Beach. I had some success with that, and I need success, the kind it brings (you can see weight coming off within days).

My daughter is 7 1/2 months old. She was born 3 months early and only weighed 2 lbs, so I didn't have a TON of pregnancy weight, but I proptly gained 12 more AFTER she came home sitting in my rocking chair with her 20 hours a day and eating a lot of chocolate to stay awake. I was 186 the morning I delivered and am 183 today...grrrrr. I am 5' 3" and I just look thick...and I don't want that anymore.

What plans are you using??

ladyv, congratulations on your pregnancy!

Hi Ladies! I'm a new mommy - Baby S is almost six months old. I lost all my baby weight plus about another twelve pounds by my six week checkup. S was about a month early because my BP went way up and I was retaining huge amounts of fluid. Till about week 30 I had gained maybe 17 pounds and they were estimating her weight around 7, then suddenly things went nuts and I was gaining sometimes a pound or three a day! So I ended up gaining about seventy pounds, all told. And about ten pounds have found their way back

Anyway, I am finally getting around to doing her baby book and framing pics and I realized, I'm not in ANY of her pics except the ones from the hospital and no one is EVER going to see those. This is just pitiful. I have got to do something with myself.

I love being a mom, but I'm not dealing well with the fatigue and new hours. She also had a Pavlik harness for hip displysia and she still has reflux so we don't get a lot of sleep around here. I am eating whatever falls into my hands in the two minutes I might find to eat. And because of all the early doc appts, I had a LOT of fast food (some weeks we would have an appt every day, one week there were seven apts in five days, all of them in towns about an hour away, so lots of car time). I look awful. I feel awful. I weigh the same as before I was pregnant, but I'm bigger! It's like my middle just flopped! I see other moms out and I notice that there are the defeated-by-life moms who look miserable and like they're just getting by and then there are the still-taking-care-of-myself moms who look a WHOLE lot happier. I know which group I want to fall into.

I am about to start reading the Superfoods books because of this thread

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84601

I like the idea of focusing on what I CAN have and eating to have more energy. I'm thinking of combining it with WW because we just moved here (back to my hometown) and I might be able to meet some people through meetings. My first step is going to be getting back into just taking care of myself. I bet I've worn makeup three times since I had the baby (two weddings and Easter). I think if I looked better I'd feel better and make more of an effort to watch what I eat. I also love the WATP DVDs and my husband is happy to watch the baby while I do them, I'm just going to have to take him up on it. I'm also thinking about joining Curves eventually - again, to possibly meet people.

I keep reminding myself that just as I picked up my mom's bad habits about food, S will pick up mine so I better get myself sorted before she's really old enough to see what's going on. I don't want to burden her with a life of weight related misery, y'know?

This got a LOT longer than I thought but I'm so excited to have other moms to talk to! I'll be checking in soon!

Congrats on the baby....I understand about weighing as much as you did when you deliver, the fast food, etc. My daughter was in the NICU for 8 weeks and I don't think I ate one good thing during that time. I know I ate about 8 lbs of chocolate, mostly in the form of kisses and a LOT of cheese/crackers. That's not so bad, but it is in doses of 2 lbs at a time. I have TONS of exercise tapes and just joined the gym, hoping the dough will help motivate me to exercise. I know the 20 minute Denise Austin tape just isn't going to keep weight off....I've got to step it up. I've set a very aggressive goal of 1000 minutes of working out this month.....I know I can do it, I just have to pull myself out of bed and work!

I also understand the reflux. I must change my daughters bed, my clothes and hers 8 times a day.....it's hard to be patient with reflux- but our Dr. keeps telling us it doesn't go on forever, I guess I'll have to believe her.

My Mother in law joined Curves and LOVES it, she lost about 15 lbs and bounds out the door to work out, because she loves the people. I guess I'm antisocial, I don't want to meet people when I work out....I just want to meet a new me, in the mirror.

Happy 4th to all!!

Hey ladies! Congrats on the babies, being a mom is pretty awesome isn't it?
Well, I'm the mommy of 4 very time consuming boys, my last pregnancy being twins which are now 7 months old (born 2 months preemie, so I can relate with you,brooke26!)
I'm 5'3" and never had to worry about my weight until about 8 years ago. I was a very tone 110 lbs. when my hubby and I started dating. Marriage added on a "few" pounds, and then my first son was born and a few more pounds hung around after that. Second son 4 years later, same story.
When I found out I was pregnant with the twins, I was about 150 lbs. and very miserable. Complications when I was about 3 months pregnant, forced me on bed rest and on a higher calorie intake and I just ballooned. I hit 200 lbs, and yes, I know I was carrying twins, but that is still pretty depressing to see!
The babies spent 1 month in the NICU and I was going through some pretty bad bouts of post partum depression and didn't really eat the whole time. I dropped down to 170 and had pretty much stayed there.
I turned 30 in May, and came to the conclusion that I wasn't going to wake up one day and magically be thin again ( and I definitly wasn't getting any younger!!!!) so I had to do something.
A friend of mine was starting South Beach, so I gave it a shot.
So far I've lost 17 lbs. and I'm so motivated now!
I want to be able to keep up with my boys and not feel like passisng out.
I don't want to be a fat mommy either!!!!!!
Good Luck everyone!

Wow it's so wonderfull to hear from so many woman who are in the same boat as I am - My daughter just turned one however I am still retaining about 65# that I gained when I had her. I was put on bed rest and restricted activity from 16 wks on (that is a long time to be sitting with your butt on the couch watching tv or playing computer games). I lost some of my baby weight right away, however once I stopped nursing my daughter at 6 mths of age. I continued to eat like I still needed all the calories, so through the winter I put back on another 20# (yea me). I'm 5'10" so I can carry more weight and not look horrable - but the day my scale hit 250 I knew I needed to change. I 've been working really hard over the last month at just cutting out the junk food and have lost about 10# But I would like to loose at least those next 65# if not more. WE are also trying to get preagnet again which scares me to death - I don't want my kids to be very far apart - but I also am starting out heavyer than the last pregnancy and If I gain the 80# that I did with Evie, I'm in serious trouble. It's wonderfull to hear your stories I hope this thread keeps going

EviesMommy,
I had gained about 60lbs. with my first son, and I didn't gain nearly that much with my second, 30lbs only (unfortunatly I just happened to weigh more when I got pregnant!). I think some women (especially me!) tend to gain more weight with the 1st pregnancy because of "I'm eating for 2 now" which doesn't mean double up on everything you eat. Also, take into account you were on bed rest for 16 WEEKS! (been there, done that, I know how much that sucks!) Hopefully with your next pregnancy that won't happen,(I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!) and you can be a little more active and not so bored. Plus you'll have a toddler to chase after! It's hard to cave in to ice cream cravings when you don't have a moment of peace =).
So don't be scared, you can do it!
Good luck with the baby making!!!!!

I am a fat mommy too. I have 3 kids. Ages 9, 5, and 16 months. After all the births, at the 6 week check up, I weighed less than before I got pregnant, then a few months down the road, I weighed more. I am now at about 197 and only 5'2", I don't know for sure because I don't own a scales. I don't think it's more than that because my jeans still fit with not too much fat overlapping!! I have Weight Watchers materials and know how to do the points. I joined with my sis-in-law. She lost a lot of weight. I just became discouraged because I was not losing as fast. In the 10 week program we were in, she lost over 20 pounds and I lost about 7. I quit. That was a few months ago. I cannot get motivated to lose the weight. I find things to complain about to my boyfriend that he is doing wrong. But this weekend, I told him that it's me. I hate myself. I am fat and I feel like crap about myself. I pull away from him, because I do not want him too feel my rolls of fat when he tries to hug/hold me. I thought joining weight watchers with my sis-in-law would be buddy enough and keep me motivated. But it did not work. I joined 3fc a few years back and loved it and hope I can find someone on here to talk with and maybe start my journey with.

AprillPepper! I so hear you on the boyfriend thing - I love my husband but I have become this weird person who doesn't want to be hugged, held, or touched because then people will know how fat I am. AS IF THEY CAN'T SEE and as if my husband even cares! He's never ever said one even KIND OF negative thing about how I look but I feel like a freak! I have had a really nasty bout of just...self hate...and that's not like me. I think action is the only thing that's going to pull me out of this but it's so hard when I'm SO tired and I have so far to go!

Brooke, what meds are you using for the reflux? S is taking Prevacid which has worked wonders, but it's the Maalox for the "breakthrough" reflux issues which have made the biggest difference day to day.

Had DS #2 2/20. When we got PG I was 242!! Yikes! NO B U E No! Ended up @ 270 in delivery...(EWWWwww) Left the hosp. 14 lbs lighter...BF for 9 weeks and at my 6 weeks check up I was @ 262....Hmmmm 8 lb gain. Dr. said some women do that when BF. I was freekin' STARVING most of the time....Today I'm officially @ 225lbs. All that since 2/20....geez. My weight loss journey is rockin' . I've accepted a new lifestyle....finally. Mostly due to my new lil precious one. Not that the old one isn't precious...he's 14. Now if can just get DH on board....I tell him, you don't want Logan (baby) to have FAT parents, do you???

Had to drop in to say hi after I read the title - that has become my new mantra! In fact, I want to be a "hot mamma" - which is how I always pictured myself - skinny with 3 kids. Now I have the 3 kids, but NOT SO SKINNY!

I have finally lost almost all of my weight from this pregnancy (all 45 pounds of it!), but have the 18 pounds hanging around from the last two pregnancies to go (my boys are 5, 3, and 14 months).

My goal is to hit 125 and then range between 125-130 . . . a bit heavier than I was when I got pregnant the first time but still plenty skinny for me!

Hey ladies
I know how you all feel about not wanting to be fat momma's!
I'm 22 and have 2 boys, have been married to a wonderful man named Chris for a year. Our youngest is 7 months old and growing way too fast.. our oldest is starting junior kindergarten in september.. again, growing WAY too fast.
I gain a ton of weight when I get pregnant. I gained a whopping 80 lbs with my first (and didn't even have GD!) and about 55 with my second...
At my last appointment before I had my youngest I was 245 (puke), today I weighed in at 189.. wow, so a 56lb loss so far (lol i had to use my calcuator..how sad!). I did the first 50 by myself but then i sort of stalled.. so I asked hubby to buy me a weight watchers at home kit off of ebay for my birthday.. so i have been doing their flex points program for about 3 weeks now. I also go to the gym atleast 4 days/week.

I am in my sister in laws wedding this september 9th.. so i'd really like to lose another 15-20 lbs before then.. The hardest part to get rid of is my belly.

nice to meet you all
