Red face Hullo, Kim or KT here... I'm a newbie!

Hey all, my name is Kim (or KT.. or Kimmy, or Kimbo.. or.. you get the idea.. haha) and I'm 22 years old with about 80 pounds to lose. I never realized I was as heavy as I was until I went to the doctor last Monday in regards to a bug bite I had gotten on my leg -- The story with the leg is a long one, and I just don't want to run the risk of infection from injury.. again.

I've got my friend Joe working out with me and we're both up for trying low-fat, low-calorie recipes... I'm just looking for support from people since I don't have that much from my close circle of friends .. isn't that sad? There's a 5K on my birthday this year, and since one of my life goals is to run some sort of marathon, I'm going to participate and just want to get into shape.. I don't care if it takes me forever to finish, I'm going to do it.

So yeah.. encouragement, support, prayers, humor.. If you need it, I'll supply it. We can all do this!!

Wink Welcome Kim!

That's great that you are starting so young to get your health in check. I am pround of you. I am 53 and am finally going to do something about my weight. I just logged in today for the first time. So I think you are on the right track and wise at your very young age. You are going to make it. No diet works. they just make you fatter. I know cause that's what happened to me. I kept gainning with every crazy diet. Eat healthy and keep working out with your friend. You are doing it right. Please be patient and you will succeed. God bless you sweetheart.

sincerely,
Titi

Andrea and Titi,

Thanks so much for the welcome!! I've always been active, I'm just bigger, and I know that a lot of my weight is actually muscle mass.. I just can't get rid of the fat that is on top of it. For me, 22 isn't that young, but I'm one of those, "I have to do everything I want to do in life... right... NOW," people.. drives my mom crazy. As well as all of my friends.

I'm trying not to be a nag with my friends about getting them healthier -- a lot of them smoke and things like that, or believe that the low-fat/no-fat versions of foods can taste as good as the full-fat kind.. So it makes it hard.. I feel very alone in all of this.. but not so much anymore!!

I'm so excited for myself and everyone else embarking on this adventure!!

<3
