I decided today to set a small goal of 10 lbs. I have much more to lose but I'll start there. I'm getting better at passing up baked goods except for just now my paramedic partner just passed me a square with coconut, peanut butter and lots of sugar. Other than that, I've been good. Went to movies and had a sip of iced tea and two bites of cinnamon pretzel. That was it, no other junk. If we know that sugar sets off a host of events we don't like then why do we eat it??!! It causes insulin to be released and then if the calories aren't used up they are stored as fat, so why oh why do we do this? When I'm at home, I don't eat any junk b/c there's none in the house and I'm so busy. Here at work, we're often not too busy so I get bored and think about what would taste good. There's a farmers market down the road and they make so many tastey baked goods it's not funny and of course my fav, ice-cream. I try to stay away from there. I'm not working with my regular paramedic partner today which is a good thing, he likes to visit Tim Horton's and all those desserts just call my name the whole time we're there. He of course eats that stuff and doesn't gain a pound. Those are my wooes of the day. I met a medical first responder yesterday who lost 70lbs to support his son. His son was over weight and wanted to try 'Simply for life" diet plan so he told him he would do it too. He thought he only had 30-40 lbs to lose. He lost 70 lbs and now doesn't have to take any high blood pressure meds. Wow eh? He's my inspiration for today and as usual, all of you. All the struggles everyone has been thru and to see the victory at the end, it keeps me going. Thank you all. I hope everyone is having a great day!!!!
