New Chick
Hi everyone!
Well I've been popping on here off and off for a while now. I've always loved the recipes i've found here..So I thought I'd finally take the big step and join all official like. This upcoming Monday my husband and I are going to start the South Beach Diet once again. The first time I tried it I lost about 13 pounds in the first 3 weeks but then took a huge nosedive when we had a stress induced pizza dinner.
I have just recently begun being treated for type 2 diabetes although I am only borderline. Dr. put me on meds and I have to test my blood sugar each day. The meds are also supposed to help me lose weight but hasn't yet..Although I must take responsiblity and admit I haven't been eating all that well. No problem with watching my sugar intake but I have been doing awful when it comes to snacking and high carb foods. My blood sugar has gone down though and my Dr is pleased and I am to keep things up. I want to do even better and get healthy again.
A few years ago I lost about 60 pounds through lifestyle change and a lot of work of course. I figure it took years to pack these pounds on it'll take some time to shed them. I was doing well until my husband and I were in a car accident..nothing major but I wound up hurting my back. I had a small twist in my spine and a sprain. Somehow later on I developed a herniated disc. For awhile I was on lots of meds for it and b/c of the pain I was no longer able to do my workouts (I just love the walk away the pounds!) and depression set in..Life also threw some curve balls at as and we lost both my MIL and a BIL to cancer within 6 months of each other. Marriage troubles later developed ..Truth be told I've used the addition of these stresses to become my excuses for being up to within a few pounds of my highest weight. I'm 5/3 and weighed in today at 330..Highest was 335.
Although I have not lost weight since my treatment for diabetes began I am feeling better. I have a little more energy and that is just wonderful. I still live with back pain each day but I know as the weight comes off that will get better as well.
So I am ready to begin my journey to a healthier me! I know it's going to be tough work but I look forward to being a part of this community!!
