anyways, i hope i can find loads of support here, etc - looks like a really supportive thread.
the thing is, i don't know where to start? how did you guys start out?
i'm at uni now, and i don't live at home, and i don't have the money to buy lots of food - any help on what to do?

Talking You can do it!!

I'm in college, too, and I know how stressful it is to try to lose weight while managing your classes and everything. I started out by finding a good excersize DVD that I could watch in the privacy of my dorm room (I personally used "Burn Fat Fast" by Denise Austin, but you can find one that you think will work for you) and I worked it out in my room until I felt comfortable enough to use the excersize equiptment at school. Some days I would do more than others, but don't over-exert yourself since having a bad experience will make you less liketo to want to go back. Have a friend come along with you as you walk around a track for 30-40 minutes! And definitely pay close attention to the food you are eating at school. Sometimes it's hard to pick out the right food because all you have to pick is what they offer. I kept a little journal of sorts of what I ate everyday and that helped me to realize all the junk I ate without noticing!! Hope this helps!!

Poppy!
I started out following the WW point system & doing WALK AWAY THE POUNDS dvds. Now I am a member of Jenny Craig & I do Turbo Jam workouts!
I'm on a budget too & it can make losing weight so hard, but if you want it bad enough you find a way!
Good luck!

Welcome Poppy1

Now that summers here the cheapest way to exercise is outdoors! Find a park near you and try power walking with the odd bit of jogging thrown in.

As for the food, its not easy to eat fresh healthy food on a budget in this country! I love fruit but find my local sainsbury's ridiculously expensive. Instead I buy it from fruit and veg stalls that are outside tube stations in london. Fruit is way cheaper this way and possibly fresher too! I dont know where abouts you live but hopefully you may be able to track something like that down.

Good luck!

i'm training to be a children's nurse - just started. you never get a chance to sit down when on placement, so i guess that helps alittle with excersise.

bone idle - buying fresh fruit from the market is a good idea - i love fruit and eat alot of it (but i do that with bad foods also!). i buy my fruit from tesco, and it ain't cheap. looks like the market for me - thanx.
