Exclamation Menopause and Hypothyroid need advise!!

Good Morning!

I posted a thread yesterday under Buddy up. If you'd like to read my history go there. I'm in early menopause (at 32) and have hypothyroid. I've gained 10pounds after working out and eating healthy for the past 3 weeks. I'm on Prempro and synthroid, could this be the cause? Is someone out there that's going through a similar situation? Please help , your advise would be greatly appreciated!

Hulahoop,

I am 32 as well but I do not think I am going thru early menopause. My dr does check my levels often since my mom was about 32 when she went thru it. I however, have hypo. I have had it since I was like 8 or 9 and have been on the pills for a long while. It takes a good month for the pills to get into your system. If you have just started taking them ask the dr to retest you in about a month and a half to make sure the levels are correct. When do you take the med, make sure once you take it you do not eat for up to 1 hour but I find two hours is better for me. Many foods can take away your thyroid stuff like soy, which sucks for me becuase I am a vegan so I relay on soy for protien.

I would contact your doc and ask and tell them how you are doing. They have no clue every person is very different on this med. Another thing to check is your sugar levels, your ovar's maybe storing insulin being premenopausal.

Please don't lose hope. It takes a while once you have been put on the pill for it to be correct and then make sure you get test once ever 6 to 8 months to make sure it is correct. I can not tell you how many times I have had to have it changed. MOst of the time to a higher dose.
