Default Hi from Fat Chick in Florida

Hi, my name is Teresa and I am a lot overweight, I am tipping the scales at 235 and no matter what I seem to try, I can't seem to get it off, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

S/C/G: 232 just getting started on it

Default

HI Teresa, I am also a newbie from Florida! I just joined last night. I am at 232 right now and I feel your pain. This is the biggest I have ever been!! I will be turning 31 in May 31st and I just feel like it's do or die at this point. I don't really have any suggestions on how to lose but if you need a buddy for support maybe we could team up. I am actually looking into Weight Watchers meetings. I used to attend them about 10 yrs ago and it worked after I had my first child, but I quit stupidly because I lost what I wanted and thought I didn't need it anymore. But one more child later I am obiese!! I am hoping to get support and make new friends on here and I hope the same for you!!

I am also a newbie from Florida. I am currently at 233. I started at 240, 2 weeks ago. I joined a gym, cut out all my sodas and stopped fast food and I have lost 7 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks. Going to the gym gives me energy and motivates me not to cheat.

Talking Hi neighbor

Hi Teresa

Hi neighbor I am from Panama City Fla.

You are going to love this website. I joined a support group called "sticking with it week 1" in the support section. All you Floridians are welcomed to join and also all of you not so lucky to live in Florida.

I started a new thread today ("Sticking with") because the old one said week 1 and we were on week 2. I hope the old group finds it. Anyway drop a line there and join the party. The girls there are great and very supportive. ahhh group hug.

I am on the "Carbohydrate addict diet" I love it so far. I lost 10 pounds the first week and I never felt deprived. This is week 2 and my goal is to lose 2-3 pounds a week but I'll take anything.

I haven't started an exercise program yet. Since I have a hard time "sticking with it" in the past, I thought I work on a diet first then exercise.

Glad to have you aboard

Good luck Teresa!! I'm not so cool as everyone else here, as I am not from Florida.
I've tried bunches of diets, or atleast read about bunches of diets. I really recommend WW. I was on it years ago and lost 30 pounds. I've managed to keep half of that off the whole time without having been to a meeting in 6 years.

The accountablity of the weigh in is a strong motivator! Diets like atkins and south beach require far too much will power, and I just can't stick to them for the long haul

Good luck in which ever route you choose to take! We're all cheering for you

Hi Teresa!
This is a great place to come to for support!! Everyone just welcomes you with open arms. It's a great place to come if your feeling down or frustrated. You can see so many everyday people struggling just like you are.
I joined Weight Watchers in May and have lost about 15 pounds. I do the flex program and it is easy and doable. I also had to have the accountability of going somewhere and weighing in. Doing it at home alone, just never worked for me. But whatever diet you do, just make sure it is something you can stick with and if you find you can't then try something else, just keep trying and the weight will come off.
Also try to start exercising, even if it is just 5 minutes at a time. Keep building on it and soon you will be on your way. I walk for 4-4 1/2 miles every other day and do an exercise video on the opposite mornings for 1 hour. What ever you do, do something that you enjoy. If you can find a partner that's great, just don't let their program impact your's. You have to be accountable for yourself. If they decide not to go, keep it up yourself. Remember that the changes are for you!!
Anyway good luck and keep coming back here for support!

Hi everyone, and welcome Teresa! I'm in Key west, fl... I too have a lot to lose although I have lost 30lbs so far on exercise, cutting out most of my sodas and just watching what and how much I eat. I need to be able to pass a physical fitness test by late august early september, so I'm here if you need some encouragement, and for encouragement too.... you'll love this site. Hope you have a great weekend... and don't forget to get in some exercise if you can!
