I don't have the book and don't want to spend ANOTHER penny on a diet plan that doesn't work with me. So, before I go out and buy the book I was hoping somone could answer a few questions for me. From what I can tell, I LOVE what this diet is about - healthy, wholesome foods including lots of fresh fruit and veg and staying away from chemically and mass produced products such as sweetners and fastfood. That is pretty much me already. What I need help with is portion control and this diet seems to offer this. There are a few things in my life that I just can't budge on though and that is what my questions are about....

Dairy IS allowed, but dairy plays a minor role in Sonoma/Med lifestyles. This isn't to say you can not have cheese or milk products, but just that cheese and things in recipes should be used in small amount, rather than in large quantities. Think a dusting of parmesan/ mozarella on pizza rather than a mountain of cheese.

The plan disappoints me in this aspect that it doesn't pay a major role in the book. However around these parts, exercise isn't optional

. If you look at the top of the forum we have a monthly exercise thread because this way of life isn't just about weight loss. It's about health!!

Yes you can eat potatoes, but the thing with anything you put into your body is to be mindful of the nutrional quality of what you are eating. Sweet potatoes would be a better choice, but that isn't to say you can never have potatoes again. Whole grains are a better choice of a side dish on a regular basis than white potatoes

Sure you can have red wine., but I am the wrong one to ask. I don't like the stuff.

But I am very glad that dark chocolate is allowed is small doses.
Nothing really is disallowed on this program, but the important thing to keep in mind is the old saying " You are what you eat" Make healthy choices most of the time.. we all go off plan a litt;le bit from time to time and that's okay too. This is LIFE and we are suppose to occasionally enjoy a piece of bitrhday cake, potato salad, chips.. etc. but the trick is to make these sort of things not daily or even weekly indulgences.
