Smile Newbie Here.... Hi Everybody

Hi Everybody, I am glad I found this website....I would love to meet some new buddies and chat about things and get support. I am 38 and married and have a 8yr old son.
I started my New Year's Resolution this year and for the first time ever...... I followed through.
I had a stroke at 35 about 2-1/2 years ago and was on all types of medication after for the past 2 years - Plavix and Lipitor, etc. I started Jenny Craig in January, use the treadmill 6 days a week and take L-Arginine (amino acids) daily and I am now medication free!!!!!

So needless to say, I needed to make some big changes in my life and I am doing them but I would love to talk to others who are struggling and maybe talk about some of the questions and issues I now have. It seems that I can't talk to any of it to anyone.
Well anyway, sorry for the long intro.

Glad you're here! There is a Jenny Craig group here, I think. Look in the General Diet Plans forum of Diet Central. I feel like I'm boring others when I rattle on about wanting to lose weight, needing to exercise, etc. It's great to come here b/c folks don't have to read it if they don't want to! I don't feel like I'm putting anyone out. The journalling here is good when I have stuff to get off my chest but nothing to post. Have you started one?

Everyone here is great about answering questions and discussing concerns. You've come to the right place!

Wink handfull

I only found this today myselve. I had a skoke about a million years ago it seems now. I am still on alot of pills. I had my head bast in while in the AIr Force by a towbar. THey sent me home to sleep- has cause alot of problems, but as with everything, this too will pass. You learn new ways to do things and know your limitataions. I am finding that following a food plan and postions is helping, just as remebering to take my pills on time, same time every day, same with this new eating I am doing. poepole are forgiving, Just look at my spelling!

I have what 123!!!!! to go, look at that it's a 1 than a 2 than a 3, cute! Guess it is all in how you look at it.

Hi SSarah

I know what you mean about venting! I definitely don't have anyone else to talk to about weight loss and questions about things. I am so glad I found this place!
Meatloaf..... Eddie Money!!!

HI Handful - I am telling you the pills definitely helped me for the past two years and I felt like it was my safety net. I know that when you reach the two year mark your % chances of having another stroke go down dramatically like under 10% or something. I will have to look into that but as soon as I hit the two year mark, I felt comfortable to start my life change with the weight issues and I have not had another TIA (mini stroke) since.

Question:
I have never used message boards before and I am unsure of how you post. Can you sort of post wherever you find something interesting to you or is that rude and intruding? I need a "Message Boards for Dummies" Guide Book!!!!!!

Mari, pardon my mistake! Eddie Money, how could I get that wrong? There is a Frequently asked questions forum here that might help you on posting but it seems you have it right!

Ssarah: I do like Meatloaf too! I am trying to get this posting thing down, I am sure it will take some time.!

Bep: Thanks for the congrats! I am trying hard.

Godssongbird74: I do look forward to getting to know everyone.

I have a trade show to go to in July for work. I have been at this show for the past6 years and have not been happy with myself or my self image. Especially since this show is really focused on Nutritional & Functional Foods. I mean there are so many people there with like 10% body fat and walk around in their skintight size 00 fitness wear!!!! I just feel like cringing and crawling under our table! This year I can at least wear some of my old business suits. I can't wait!!! And of course it is in Las Vegas and my husband and I will be going while my son stays with my parents so we may just paint the town red! I will miss Ryan though, he loves going to the shows but I don't like him going to the Vegas ones - too hot and too much sin in town!!
LOL
