Default Help for Lunch

Does anyone have an idea about what to have for lunch? It needs to be something easy and portable. I teach school and have access to fridge and microwave. I have frozen meals and have had salads. I don't want to get bored by eating the same thing day after day. I am totally up for suggestions

Leftovers are a great option. I like the tuna pouches for convenience--I took them to work (teacher) everyday last year! Rice cake with peanut butter and lean cuisine frozen meals are some favorites--but I only have the lean cuisine (pizza) once a week). Cottage cheese with fruit, turkey sandwich--really I think the key to all of LAWL eating--wherever you are is PLANNING. Good Luck.

I know this sounds overly simple but it makes a great lunch. I scramble two eggs with a small amount of ham cubes... add some fresh salsa and a bit of FF sour cream. Just nuke it up at lunch time. Sometimes have a piece of WASA bread with it.

toasted cheese pita or pizza pita? That is a pretty popular quick fix arounnd here. I like boca burgers and they take less than a min. in the micro. I eat them open faced on a slice of whole wheat bread with some fixin's and cheese. They only count as half protein on orange, red, and purple, but are a full protein on blue, gold, and green.

You can also make big batches of dried bean soup and freeze them if you like them...they are a vegetarian protein.

another good option is I buy those Tyson pre-made chicken breasts (2 per pack) and heat them up in the microwave - usually I made some type of salad to go with it!!! Just don't eat the skin - the chicken is yummy and very tender and juicy - wonderful for TO as well!!!

I like doing the pockets too - I do the pizza pockets or egg with the morningstar veggie sausage patties - those are really good to!
I do the lean cusines 1/week and I sometimes get the salads from MCD - of course, with the grilled chicken - I love the new Asian one - but it is high in sodium - didn't realize how much until I put the nutritional info into fitday yesterday!!! WOW - but just drink lots of water. I like the chargrilled wrap from Chick-fil-a as well - it counts as PSV - I use light mayo instead of dressing on mine - Yummy!!!

Kristi - Will you tell me how to make the egg salad - everytime I try - it just doesn't come out right - I need specifics - this many eggs, this much mayo ...etc.... Thanks!!! I would love to have some good egg salad, but I won't order it out due to the fattening mayo!!!

My book may be wrong, but it said the chickfila wrap is 2 s. It is way too much bread, though, so i just rip off half and count as a starch.

Heatherpp, if you make egg salad or tuna salad, try fresh dill if you have some instead of the high sodium relish. That is what I do and I love it.

Thanks DF -
hmmm, I always wondered about that wrap - I tear mine as well - but I just figured I was gaining some extra calories - oh well - I can still do it though an count as 1 S - another wrong piece of info in my information....imagine that

Thanks so much for the ideas. I have joine LAWL for the second time and I forgot what I used to take for lunch. I didn't want to have frozen meals 5 times because of the sodium. My DH and I joined in Feb. of last year both with a goal to lose 50, he made it and I got frustrated and quit. I have rededicated myself and will make it this time but, this time my goal is 80.

I have frozen meals nearly every day and hit the salad bar for a spinach, tomatoes, and cucumber salad plus some sunflower seeds for my fat. Yum! I never get bored cuz there are so many frozen dinners out there. I don't think it's hurt my weight loss any . . . .

Yum-now I want egg salad too! Too bad I'm on TO today! And I've been following it good too! The last couple of times I've gotten so carb crazy that I ended up cheating . . . Anyway-working out at the gym after work has really helped with my nitetime cravings-my appetite is suppressed for awhile after . . .I did a 1/2 hr Pilates/Butt class and then did Turbo Kickboxing last nite. It was a lot of fun . . I really enjoy the classes-I get a much better workout than when I just do the elliptical or the treadmill. i think the classes challenge me more cuz I'm trying to keep up and not look stupid
