Default Looking for a Atkins buddy!

Hello there. I just started Atkins last week and love it so far. Yeah it's hard but hey, what diet and new exercise program isn't?

I'm looking to buddy up with some folks here to swap ideas, recipes, words of encouragment. I just started coming here and love it. It's such a great place to come when I'm feeling weak and need a good pick-me-up.

I have a 9 month old baby and am just trying to get this darn baby weight off! I had the baby last year and the weight just stuck around! Yuck! I was sick of feeling blue about my weight so I wanted to get down to business and start something!

Right now I'm on the induction part of Atkins. I am doing it with a friend at work but when she's not available to lean on, I'm coming here. In addition to getting used to the diet, I have had 2 slip ups -- but have still managed to lose 5 lbs and not gain anything back yet. I'm happy with the diet so far.

In addition to dieting, I'm exercising 3-4 times a week.

Anyone have any good tips on Atkins? Would love to budyd up with someone who's been on it a while. I don't know all the tricks yet.

Good luck to you all!!!

Have you tried posting a thread in the Atkins forum? You probably will find someone experienced there. BTW, I'm still trying to lose my baby fat too. Of course, my baby is now 2 1/2!

Greetings... I am an atkins fan.. been on it over a year..off and on. Weight loss arrives rapidly but also returns quickly if not adhered to. It's a "weigh" of life after a while. Although never a meat eater before, I do think this is the best of the best on weight loss. If one does follow it as proposed, it does work. A few years ago, I lost 40 lbs in 3 months eating only green beans and mandarin oranges at first, then on to banquet pot roast tv dinners (only 250 calories tops) and an occasional chix breast and lettuce salad with chopped up egg. So far, after 4 yrs. i have put on 20 lbs but am now adhering to the atkins diet to remove this added weight.

Hi AtkinsFan.

Sounds like we are in the same boat. When you were previously on the Atkins diet, did you eat Mandarine Oranges? Or did I read your post wrong? Because I was going to ask, I thought there was no fruit allowed in induction.

I've been looking for quick and easy things to bring to work to eat for lunch...but I guess all of those TV dinners aren't good for a diet.

Hope you are doing good so far! Good luck to you and I'll be sure to check back here often to see how you are doing!

Talking

Hello JerseyGirl and WillbeThin2006!!! Would love to buddy up with you both!

JerseyGirl -- you are awesome. I posted a few posts previously last week and you were super helpful!!! Thank you! And I noticed all of the weight you lost -- amazing and you must feel so great! A great inspiration for me too!

WillbeThin2006 -- would love to buddy up since we are in the same spot. I feel really great and feel like the diet is going well. I've had to tinker with some things like actually doing measuring of foods, alter my caffine intake, learn about low-carb foods that are sold. Whatever you do, be sure to give yourself some slack in getting used to this diet. One thing I have learned is not to beat myself up over a couple of mistakes I made when I first started...this made it easier to move on and keep going!

Today is my second week on the diet. I'm not counting the first week since I messed up.

I check back here a few times a day so if you are feeling weak and need a pick me up, we'll be here!

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!

Hey Jerseygyrl -

Unfortunately I don't have IM here at work. But I've been checking here often -- quite a few times a day. I love this site. It's nice and a great place to surf around when I get time during a busy day.

How does the PM here work? Do I need to set up something?

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am on Atkins and have 5 lbs. to goal. If there's anything I can help you with, just let me know. The Atkins New Diet Revolution book was invaluable to me, as I didn't really know what foods were low in carbs. I had to look everything up for a long time. Good luck and best wishes. This plan really works and exercise helps speed the weight loss too.
