Default 300+ And Ready To Try Again.....#907

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Zelma, I'm so sorry that it was cancer after all, but at least it's not a bad one, your vigilence paid off, it could have been much worse if you'd left it. It's a shame your hubby wasn't there with you but at least it was over & done with before you had chance to panic.
My new exercise bike came today, I put it together & went on it for 10 mins, I will try & get on it for 2-3x per day x10 mins + 40 mins exercise/salsa or aerobics/toning. Once my stamina is up I'll, hopefully, be able to do 1x30 mins a day, or more and the other exercises!
I'm back OP today, strawberry & banana smoothie for breakfast, houmous & carrot sticks for lunch-which Aiden shared- and soup for dinner, and 10 mins of 'biking' so far, I hope to add another 10-20 mins later on, I can watch the portable in our bedrooom, rather than just veg out totally downstairs in front of the tv.
xxsharon
ps where are you all?

Brenda - isn't that just sods law? There you are trying to accustom yourself to sleeping with the CPAP machine, and then you end up smothering with a cold and can't breath properly anyway. Well I just hope that it clears up quickly and that you can go back to using the machine and hopefully getting some good night's sleep. It's a good thing that you think the sleep apnea will go as you lose weight, that's something else to look forward to!

Patti - you said it, it does seem so unfair how men lose quicker than women, heck men lose when they don't even try to I had my moment of wanting to scratch his eyes out this morning but I got over it. I am just happy that I got to lose 2 lbs, that is my goal every week now, and I hope that I am doing all the right things to meet that target.

Crock - aww thank you for the 15 lovely emoticons I would do the same for you but I think before long there won't be enough emoticons to use!!

Zelma - oh my goodness what a shocker huh?? I can't even begin to imagine your shock when you realised you weren't going for another biopsy test, but to actually have a skin cancer removed Thank God that the doctor thinks she got it all and that it isn't the type that can spread further into your body I think I am with you on not being angry that they didn't give you the right facts when they told you to come back in. You would have worried yourself silly and got really worked up about the procedure, so it's kind of better that you only had seconds to deal with the news before they were doing the procedure. I hope you won't be too sore as you heal and that the test results will all come back showing all the cancer has indeed been removed.

Brenda - thanks for the congrats, now if I can just stick to a 2 lb loss a week I will be a very happy camper Don't men like my Daren and your Steven just make you sick, how can they eat like the do and still lose weight. Men have it so easy in life compared to women, and that includes dieting!!

Sharon - glad that you got your bike and it's all set up and you have already used it. I just have to wait another couple of months and I will hopefully get my Gazelle Rider and then I can do what you plan on doing, exercise while watching TV.

Glad to hear you are back OP today, you mark my words, you will be feeling so much better in a day or two.

I have to go do some ironing now, but if I get chance later I will look for you on MSN.

Bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi

Ammi~ you dont need to put the emoticons up for me , I do appreciate the thought .. the roll that you are on . I will start doing ONE for every 5 lbs , the 10, then 15,then 20 etc.etc.etc.LOL

Men can lose weight so easy, but when it the gain catches up with them and they decide to lose they are worse than us women on the scales............and the mood swings..ugh.

Default Ketch-up, part 1

KEISHA aka Syncere!! Personally, I think you’ve come to The Right Place! We’ve been where you are, and we understand! If you’ve checked a few tickers, you know we’re at different points in our journeys but we’re all trying to go in the same direction, together. I’m glad you’re here! As far as suggestions, there are a lot of different successful plans being used here – I’ve personally been successful with SB – basically, eliminating starches (pasta, bread, potatoes) and sugars, and choosing good fats (Olives) over bad ones (anything fried.) I was amazed to learn that my cravings disappeared once I’d been off those poisons for a while. Currently I’m facing a few emotional challenges, but I’m getting back on the right horse myself these days. I understand the struggle – you just need to be in the right “place” to start your own journey. No one can do it for another person. I totally agree with you – support is really crucial, and you can surely count on finding it here!

ANNIE! I was so excited when I read your -14.5 inch post that I started to call you right away… then I realized that it was 7:30 in the morning and you might not appreciate the call quite so much at that hour. I am THRILLED for you! What great achievement, and in LESS than a month! AWESOME!

ZELMA, I’m so glad I could give you a chuckle! You’re right – Simon is so cute sometimes I just have to scoop him up and schmooze him (OK JULEE – Is “schmooze” another one of those words I should be careful how I use? ) Even when he’s doing his worst as “Destructo Pup” and I’m threatening him with a whoopin’ (which he’ll NEVER get) I can just hardly stand how cute he is. *** Your triple B day sounds like the greatest thing ever! What an inspired idea. I’m not surprised the kids love it and it’s wonderful to encourage them to read so much!!

Quote:
“In fact, the last time I was so surprised that it was no problem at all, I wanted to go out and in and out and in and then yell to the other passengers "hey -- look at me!! I can pee in the airplane!! WHo knew??"
MEL - This tore me up!

XENA – The weekend is over and here we are, getting back on track again. I hope THIS week is better for you food & ex wise. I’ve been struggling myself but I think I’m doing better now and hope you are too!! I’m sorry that you’re suffering ffrom the blues. Ay you find a little dash of RED to add to your day, because purple is a much nicer color! OK, now, just like Christmas time… Step AWAY from the cookies (ice cream, tacos, “your-weakness-here”)

AMMI – Eagle Pass is a good sized little town on the Mexican border – a small city actually population about 38,000 I think. It has actually restaurants, car dealerships, etc., whereas most of the border towns you would miss them if you sneezed, and you’d have a hard time finding their Coke machine… if they had one. It’s a nice place to visit, but you wouldn’t wanna live there unless you really like pricker plants and 106 degree heat, as well as Mexican food. The night sky in that part of the country is something awesome to behold when you get a ways out of town.

MISTI, I still love that coast to coast walking idea… I have GOT to get with the program!!!

CYN! Fantastic job on getting off the Dr. Pepper! I know that that’s the sort of habit that’s hard to break away from, but makes a huge difference in your health, so GOOD for you! Is it like quitting smoking, too, where you save a bunch of money by quitting, too? CONgrats on down another pound!

LORI – Oh, phooey! (I think I’m safe on that one – not a Yiddish word.) I still haven’t gotten to a mail box with that last card or two I wrote her. I don’t think it will make it there from the West Coast in time. IF you want to pm me with another address I can still send her cards while I’m on the road (I have a collection of them that you wouldn’t believe) but if you aren’t comfortable doing that I TOTALLY understand and won’t bother you about it again.

Flady – Sounds like you’re doing GREAT! With those “baby steps.” That’s what makes the whole new way of life really work in the long run. I’ve been off-plan in the big ways for a while, but haven’t re-gained the weight, and I think what’s made a difference has been a combination of little habits.

JULEE – I’m SO glad for you that you’re efforts are truly paying off and it was just a difference in scales that gave you grief. Cool on your sermon going so well, too. It has to be stressful to speak in front of so many people at such an important event.

MARIA – Your dance class sounds absolutely wonderful! I’m so jealous! I’d love to go to something like that, it sounds like so much fun, especially with friends showing up, too! I hope you had a wonderful time hiking and met a few friends you never knew before!

I’ll have to finish this later, cuz it’s potty the dogs & lunch time… and I still have a thread or two to finish catching up on, but just like Arnold… Ah’ll be bock! LOL

OOOOOooooo, Just one more little thing.... My "Little sister" just called. (We were matched when she was 7 years old, and she's 22-23? now.) She hasn't gone into labor yet, so her doctor is inducing her tomorrow .... on MY Birthday! How cool is that?! This child will be SOOOOO Spoiled if I have my way. She's going to need a really special pony - I'd better start shopping...

VooDoo1– Hi! Thanks for that clarification on NSV. I’ve had a few of those myself. Sounds like what you are experiencing is what I’ve had the last week. The cold sweats, the churning stomach... and now laryngitis! Good Luck with your new bike, Glad you are enjoying it!

AmmiUK – I can understand your feeling upset. A friend of mine is maybe half my size, but she’s still overweight. She eats like… well it’s amazing how much she can eat. She eats as much as I do, yet she talks about the weight loss she’s having but she doesn’t do anything. Of course I haven’t seen her get on a scale… but it’s frustrating and yes it can be upsetting. Those 15lbs are definitely something worth celebrating. Good for you for keeping up the positive! Thank you for your warm congrats with my weight loss. I weighed myself this morning and I was at 350.0 I guess it could have been worse. A .4 gain since yesterday but I understand that weight fluctuates from day to day, so I’m ok with that. I guess Mother’s Day could have been worse as far as my eating. But definitely, I was under 350 even for a day That just means next week I will be for sure!

Zelmai – I’m so sorry you had to go through all that The most important part is, they caught it and they caught it in time.

Well I’m finished with my observations, after 5 weeks. Now I have some extra time in the week because I will not be going in for those observations. That’s the good part. So more time to do homework YAY! but this might also mean I can get on here more often. We shall see how this works out! Hopefully less stress on me for trying to figure out where I’m going to find the time to do homework… instead of at 2:00 in the morning… WHEW!

Take care ladies!

Hello Ladies,

Quickly (and this time I mean quickly! LOL) - I didn't go hiking yesterday. Worked out on my bike, ran errands, and took care of stuff I needed to take care of before the weekend was over. I missed the hike, but I got alot done.

Zelma, sweetie, sorry you had to go through that ordeal. I'm glad it was not worse. And, I'm also glad that the B-12 shots will help with your energy level.

Ammi - GUYS HAVE MORE MUSCLE. And, muscle burns fat - whether you are working out or being a blob in front of the TV - the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn every minute of your waking and sleeping life. That is why it's so important for women to work out and develop muscle strength - I don't mean bulk up and look like the Incredible Hulk, but to develop the muscles we have to the potential they have. Also, since we have increased levels of estrogen, compared to men's, it is actually HARDER for women to lose weight compared to men. Estrogen helps us keep our fat - it's an evolutionary advantage to ward off famine while you are with child or breastfeeding. I know it's not fair, but it is what it is! Congrats on the loss - you are doing GREAT!

Julee and Xena, I'm glad you can identify with my story about feeling sad. It makes me feel less alone in it, and I hope knowing other people feel like that too, it helps y'all feel less alone too.

Valerie - Yeah, my class is FUN! If you are even in San Francisco on a Saturday (do you ever come this far west?), join me! :-)

Everyone else, I hope you have a great day! :-)

Crock - Kidney stones... ouch! I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing one yet... I am not sure if they are hereditary or not, but my father's side of the family seems to have them going on often... Maybe it skips a generation?

This is bad, I'm in the middle of class and I'm surfing the net at least it's here rather than playing games LOL!

Valerie....Schmooze is a "safe" word but it doesn't mean what you think it does. To "Schmooze" means to hang out somewhere and chit chat with the people there...like when my kids are waiting for a program to start and get there early, they schmooze.

The one you have to be careful with is "shtup"...which some people might want to do to Simon Cowell..but not Simon the dog.

Hope that helps

I have a rotten headache today and have been so tired. I don't know if I didn't get enough sleep or didn't sleep well...but when I got back from the gym this morning I was drained...I wanted to take a nap and probably should have. Keeping my eyes open this morning has been a major challenge. Usually I am so wired after working out. Go figure. My abs (and everything else) are majorly sore. I'm not going to make it to the gym tomorrow so I will give my poor body a break. But I'll be back in on Wednesday for sure.

Enjoy your day!

Hey all,

What can I say, I'm tired of being fat.

I did lose 80lbs last year before I got pregnant, and then I gained it all back. I'd like to say I didn't know better - but I did. So now I have my beautiful babe, and all that weight again.

There have been times when I've tried to talk myself into the lie that it doesn't matter if I'm heavy now. My husband still *chases me around the table* so to speak so I feel my marriage isn't in jeopardy. I don't have to worry about being at a weight were I can have a healthy pregnancy cause I've already acheived that. I thought it wouldn't matter as much as long as I had Aidan, but it does.

I'm tired of my *booty shelf*, tired of not being able to find clothes that make me look nice, I'm tired of not being able to fit into my jeans, tired of not being able to do things *regular* folk do because of my weight.

At the same time, with having a new baby, I worry that I won't find the time, energy or motivation to exercise. I had all the time in the world to dedicate to losing before - and not so much now. I'm just hoping that until I can find the time to exercise, some weight will fall off with healthy eating.

Heather
P.S. Look forward to staying the course with you all.
