Talking Weekly Journal Buddy Thread May 8-May 14

Ok I will start this off.

Today is Monday and I ate:

oatmeal
banana
Apple
smart ones santa fe rice and beans
salad with ff dressing
kim bap roll (kind of like a california roll but it has egg and ham)
Dolsot Bibim Bap (sizzling crock of rice mixed with veggies and a fried egg)
tall frappacino

I went to the gym and got on the elliptical for 25 minutes. I would of done more but my trainer and I got our times mixed up and by the time I waited for her I ended up just doing the elliptical. I will meet with her on Wed.

How was it? Does it sound pretty good? Did I do ok?

I am back! After my 2 weeks of falling back on old habits and gaining 4 pounds accordingly, I'm back!

Monday
Breakfast: Oatmeal, McD's fruit and yogurt parfait
Lunch: South Beach Diet southwest chicken wraps, and 3/4 cups of Edy's slow-churned lowfat ice cream
Snack: 1 cup grapes, 3/4 oz reduced fat cheese, South Beach Diet 'meal replacement' bar (which wasn't very good!)
Dinner: Healthy Choice sweet and sour chicken

Calories: About 1475

My new focus (as it seems I've got a new one nearly every week, if not every day!) is to eat healthy--this means nutritious foods with the least amount of calories from JUNK as possible. I won't be completely "clean" because I'll still be taking in some processed stuff, but at least everything I eat should have some positive nutritional value.

Here's today's plan:
  • breakfast shake/smoothie thing (bananas, natural peanut butter, skim milk, vanilla, ice)
  • frozen grapes
  • small Slim Jim (junk, I know, but only 50 calories and actually curbs my cravings for lots of other things)
  • SmartOnes sweet and sour chicken frozen entree (only 140 calories!)
  • sesame rice crackers w/garlic and onion hummus
  • quesedillas (whole-wheat La Tortilla tortillas, salsa, black beans, cheese, corn, fat-free sour cream)
I'm not sure what the exact total number of calories is. I don't care, really. With how far I've strayed from anything even resembling a plan lately, this is already a HUGE step in the right direction. I've also joined the Chicks in Control section to get some support for my binging, which has become a real problem lately.

Well, I missed a few days on last weeks thread. The scale wasn't moving and I got discouraged ~ and I didn't make good choices ~ unfortunatly the scale finally moved ~ up.....3 pounds worth. So, I am hoping that my head is on straight once again, and I will continue on.

I need to start posting here, I did for a little while at one point when I first joined. I find so little time these days for much. I guess I need to make the time.

Monday:
2 slice raisin toast
1% cottage cheese w/ pineapple and sprinkle of cinnamon
ww spagetti w/ meat sauce
pork roast w/ basmati rice and a big bowl of spinch w/ italian dressing

Tuesday:
1 banana
1 multigrain bagel, no butter but 2 tbs. peanut butter
turkey breast and montery jack cheese on whole wheat bun w/ tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber, mayo and mustard
1 apple
1 pepsi
1 small bag of Lays
2 piece of white chocolate peanut butter cups

The junk food got me today! But the last two days are better than it's been for the previous two weeks before that. So I feel good about that. It's time for the pounds to come off.

Okay, Tuesday was a struggle. It's work, I'm in a huge junk food habit at work.

Tuesday
Morning grazing: 3/4 cup low fat ice cream, Morningstar breakfast patty, McDonald's fruit and yogurt parfait, 3/4 oz of 2% fat cheese
Lunch: Organic Asian noodle bowl
Afternoon grazing: Baked Lays chips, a bag of light popcorn, 6 oreos
Dinner: Chicken BLT salad at Wendy's with the lowfat dressing

Calories: About 1925

Hi folks,

I have been having some pretty good weeks and making tweaks in my plan. The latest is giving up products with aspartame in them. Diet jello and most diet sodas.

I finally have a working scale as of this morning. Yippee!!!! I am going to try weighing every morning and see how that works for me. I typically weigh only when I am at the Dr's. office. I still plan to track my loss mostly by waist and hip measurements. I thought a scale would be a more immediate form of feedback.

I also attended a TOPS meeting this week. I will probably join for some extra support. Does anyone else besides Jilybean go to TOPS? Do you still attend Jillybean? Any comments , suggestions or advice?

That sort of sums up my latest efforts to support myself in losing weight. It's great to see folks posting here. I have been keeping a food journal and am only posting general trends and efforts as opposed to daily eats. Seems to redundant otherwise. Hugs

Denise

P.S. Rabidstoat, I was thinking about you as one lady at TOPS was talking about all the candy etc. at her work place. Each secretary has a budget for it. AGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Denise,

I went to TOPS for many years..beginning when I was 10 or 11 and on and off from there until I was about 20.

It was tough for me because most of the ladies (OK ALL of them) were older (60's and 70's) and it was more of a social get together rather than people making real progress. I was only a kid..and didn't have too much in common with them..it might work better for me now, I don't know.

HOWEVER...this was only one tiny little chapter of the club and it is generally an extremely sensible and supportive program. VERY affordable too.

I'd recommend anyone give it a try and meet the people in their own local chapter.

I still know the pledge by heart..

Just my own experience

Linda
