Default TOPS program

Is anyone using the TOPS programme? Or has anyone ever used it in the past? Here's the link in case anyone's interested: www.tops.org. If you then click on Enter and then on Resources (near the bottom), you get a sort of synopsis of the plan.

Thanks!

I've heard of it but I haven't tried it myself - one of the few diets I haven't tried!!!!

I just took a look and it seems fairly basic - just counting calories and making food choices based on the food pyramid. The thing which makes it different (and, IMHO, a bit complicated) is the food exchanges.

Are you going to try it out?

I think I am going to give it a shot, Sarah Ann. I'm not too bothered about the exchanges -- to me that's just a way of making sure you're getting enough of each kind of food (whether it's veggies or fat). It's more or less the same thing as the old (1980s) WW programme, which I loved.

I'll let you know how I make out!

It seems a very healthy diet - I used to do a similar one years ago called the DASH diet which was similar - and very good for reducing blood pressure.

Good luck

When I did weight watchers years ago (omg it was nearly 20 years ago!!!) it was an exchange system, exactly the same as this, and this is what I roughly follow now. It is great, especially for people who need discipline to eat from all the food groups and not just get there 1500 calories or whatever from unhealthy foods.
