Hello and welcome!
A place to start ... hmmm ... I'm fond of saying 'eat less and move more'. What does that mean to you? Can you apply that to your life somehow?

Hi Angel, Getting started is the hard part! The best advice I can offer is plan, plan, plan!!! Decide what kind of diet you want to do, empty the house of the house of the food you know you aren't supposed to eat, and make a menu for a weeks worth of meals. Go shopping, buy the good food on your list. Make a plan about exercise. If you haven't been moving, start out slow and make it a goal to exercise a little more every week. The first week might be a 10 min. walk. Aim for a little more the next week, even if its just 12 min! If you want a buddy to talk to you can e-mail me. I'm sending you my address by private message.

Welcome, Angel! Yep, you've already started with your post here! Glad to have you!

But on to the next step... I would just say eat right and get moving! Whether you "diet" (not for me) or just make your own healthy eating plan and stick with it... whatever works for you! AND find some exercise and commit yourself to it. Start out by walking, biking, gym workouts, or whatever... just do SOMETHING to get started! You are on your way!

Hi Cherokee Angel and Oochie Goo!
First steps are always the hardest and finding your way here is a great way to begin. There is a lot of support. I agree with Misti, whatever plan you choose, get yourself moving and eating healthier. Enlist some friends and family to help.
My daughter who is only 7 is my help mate. She encourages me to go walk and to eat healthier so I can be "skinnier and pretty", though she says I'm already pretty!!! lol
Anyway feel free to send me a message, I look forward to see you here on the boards.

Welcome to 3FC! Like everyone said, just posting here and wanting to lose weight, is the first step I say take the advice already given. My first week, which was last week, I just started by watching what I ate more. Not putting mayo on my sandwhiches, simple things like that. Just take little steps to start.

I'm sure you'll find all the support you could ever need here! And I wish you lots of luck on your weight loss journey

Good Morning Jay,
Well, I'm not sure what diet you want to follow, but there are lots of low calorie, low fat diets. The other thing is you want to get moving to help burn off calories and increase your metabolism. I follow weight watchers and I usually eat 1 1/2 cups of a high fiber, low fat cereal with 1/2 cup of milk and a fruit. or I eat a low carb bagel with fat free cream cheese and lite sugar jelly with a fruit to eat. Drink lots of water, at least 6-8 glasses a day. Good luck to you.
You may want to check out Weight Watchers, even if you decide not to follow the diet, they have a lot of low fat recipes that are really good and filling.
Good luck in your weight loss journey!
We're here to help each other!

You are not alone! I just started too I have started with small steps... I am trying to eat ONLY at meal time. If I want something, it has to wait until meal time. Once I get this down, I will move on to the next improvement that I need to make. I am a firm believer in taking it one step at a time. I have been a terrible binge eater and have been eating too much of the wrong stuff all day long for way too long. Any time you would like to chat, feel free to pm me!

What SusanB said is simple but makes a lot of sense . I had a baby last summer and gained over 50lbs during the pregnancy. I thought I had such a huge amount of weight to lose and, like you, didn't know where to start. I looked at 50lbs, said "I'll never lose that amount" and as a result, did nothing about it for nearly 7 months. Then I decided, instead of looking at the whole 50lbs, to just take it 2lbs at a time, and reward myself in some (non-food) way everytime I lost 2lbs. Also, I just made small changes to my diet and exercise at the start so I wouldn't 'burn out' and get bored quickly by restricting my calorie intake too much initially. If I had done this at the start, I probably would have lost all or most of the 50lbs in the seven months that I sat back and told myself I couldn't do it .

Anyway, welcome again to 3FC. Hope we can be of some support to you and good luck

K.
