ive been reading a lot of negativity about self image and thought a positive thread would do us some good...so, what part of your body are you loving right now, or learning to love!
im learning to love my big legs, they are my dads legs, put us in a mirrow (which my mom made us do) standing one after the other and we have the same legs exactly...me being a girl makes them muscular legs but im learning to accept them for what they are, and im happy i dont have skinny stick legs!
Aggie--I'm with you. I've always had LEGS--and even at their biggest they had shape (no cankles) and last night I was doing leg lifts on the floor and was like WOW--Scott look at these new muscles! He said they aren't new, you've just lost the layer of fat and you can really see the definition in the thighs and calves again (Ok--they way it typed didn't sound very loving--but the way he said it was! ). I am also liking looking in the mirror and seeing my collar bone--weird, but true. And since this needs to remain a POSITIVE body part thread I will quit!!
Great thread--we NEED to see the great things, too,--and WE ALL HAVE GREAT PARTS!!! and are all working hard toward the total package.
I like my lower arms. Through all my weight gain, If I would wear a 3/4 sleeve shirt, my lower arms haven't gained and shows the size I should be.
Also, my heart. (You didn't specify OUTER body part!) I try to see the best in everybody. One of my best friends always told me I had rose colored glasses on (especially when it came to the guys), because I always tried to turn whatever situation out into be positive.
Cankles? Boo, that is hysterical! I have HUGE muscular calves - always have, and I like the way they look in high heels - now if I could just WALK in them!!!
Great thread Angie. I like the way my butt, upper stomach and wrists have gotten much smaller as I'm losing more & more weight. I also like the way many more people are noticing and calling me skinny (which I'm a long ways from being), which is giving me a more positive outlook in the way I look.
I've noticed that my collar bones are looking pretty good, and since I use my hands a lot when I talk, I noticed that the tendons are showing - they look pretty darned good. And I went to a conference where I see people every year, and some people said they barely recognized me. Pretty amazing!
I'm with you aggie - I'm also learning to like my LEGS - although I agree with Boo - the definition in them is really making me feel good to know it is not all just fat - but really muscular!!! WOW - I'm not as self concious when I walk out of the locker room at the gym now - I'm proud!!!
Slowly shrinking - I knew something look different about my hands as well, but didn't realize what until your post....
I must say in looking at pictures - the difference in my face is the most obvious to me - you can see my higher cheekbones and really defines my "cherokee" features as my mom would say!!
I love my neck and how my collarbone sticks out. My chest is starting to show muscles and ribs. I bought two very low cut shirts because they look great, and I LOVE that!
I like my smile, people have always said it was pretty & i have dimples. I think I really like it even more because when my sons smile I see myself and I can appreciate what others have said now. Also I have long, think curly hair that I also like. My legs from my knees down are nice too.
I think that is the most credit I've given myself in years. I mean I say I'm a nice or thoughtful person but I can't remember saying something nice about my appearance in forever...I must admit it feels nice. Thanks for the positive thread Aggie!
Right now, I love my right ankle. It's the way ankles are supposed to look. My left ankle is screwed up thanks to a severe sprain and is in every definition a "cankle." Its been quite interesting watching the different colored bruises appear! Other than that, I like my wrists, crazy I know but since I spend most of the day doing delicate lab work, I focus a lot of attention on them!
I have always liked my legs. Thanks to my mom's genes and 20 years of horseback riding I have always had very shapely legs (even at my highest weight.) I am starting to love my arms. Since I have lost part of the fat layer over them, they are looking much more toned. I HAVE MUSCLES!!!
I have to say I am liking my skin right now. Ever since I have started this it has gotten so soft. I must be all that healthy food and not eating all the junk I was before. My thighs are the softest and I do not feel ripples anymore.
