Default New diet motivation for the moms here:

I read a statistic today which just reaffirmed my choice to lose weight as an example to my children. Below:

__________-
By age 6, children are15 times more likely to be obese if their mothers are overweight, new research shows.

“Genetics is not the entire story. The classic thing you’ll hear is that the obesity epidemic has developed over past 20 or 30 years, so genetic predisposition has been around for a long time. It’s just being awakened in this toxic environment. Your genetics puts you on the cliff, but environment pushes you off.”

They had 4 year olds with fat-phobias and tantruming over wanting to wear makeup in fear of being ugly and they were already very diet conscious..their moms were all "I dont know why my daughter is this way!!!"...I only caught part of it before I had to get going with homework around here

The Dr. Phil yesterday kind of touched on what we talked about regarding Aggie's concerns...it was women who married thin and had gained weight (and one of them was actually maybe a size 10, the other a 22) and their husbands were being cruel to them because they had gained weight. Made me so mad!

Maury had a 215 lb 5 y/o once. Maury usually does paternity tests (which I HATE), but every once in a while as I scroll through the guide I see the fat baby show he does and I am drawn in. I dunno why. Maybe it strengthens my resolve to keep my kid healthy. Anyway, some of the parents really want help, but some of the parents go low-class and get defensive and say stuff like "i'm gonna give my baby root beer in his bottle because he like it...and i'm raising a pro-football player so he need to be big." Help 'em. I wish they were on DR Phil instead so they could get a sound reaming instead of Maury who strips a 5 y/o down to their underwear to make them look more babyish then brings on a meek dr. to say "it really isn't good to feed a 1 year old chicken wings."

Thanks Dairy - I certainly agree with teaching the kids good eating habits at a young age. People look at my daughter strange alot of times b/c one of her favorite foods is tomatoes!!! She loves brocolli and asparagus too - but of course, she eats her fair share of mac and cheese - she absolutely loves it - She has been learning to eat chicken lately and ate an egg with me yesterday for the first time - so she is really starting to intrigue herself with new flavors

My guy is PICKY, but at least his favorite food is yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, raisins, and bananas. He loves whole wheat pitas, too. We put the veggies and meat on the plate, but he's kinda against them at this point. Oh well!
