You don't want anything that even sounds like 'instant' when looking for oatmeal. You're looking for the 'old fashioned' kind that takes time to cook. There are tons of brands out there (steel cut or Irish can be really chewy and good!), but the Quaker Old Fashioned kind that comes in a tall cardboard tube is fine. You don't want the kind that comes in individual packets, regardless of any claims to have lower sugar. Okay?

You can, however, make the old fashioned kind pretty quickly in a microwave. DH and I did this all the time...the directions are on the side of the container. I think it takes 3-4 mins. with milk in the micro. Yum!
However, there are TONS of things you can have for breakfast besides eggs, even in P1! You can find lots of ideas here:
