Default Sonoma/Mediterranean??

Is there a reason that Sonoma and Med. each have separate boards here? I'm trying to follow the med. way of eating and find myself jumping over here a lot since there is so much good info here. It would be nice for my own selfish purposes if the two boards were one but I'm thinking maybe there is a reason I am missing?

I hope this isn't one of those "big debate" topics...just wondering if there is some very logical explanation I am missing.

Hi... well the Med forum was started a while ago when a few of us expressed an interest in this way of eating. Unfortunately it really never took off.

The Sonoma board is fairly new, just started in December when the book came out. I am not sure why the Med board is still around since it isn't used much.

Sonoma is just Med foods with a portion control mechanism and a 10 day Wave 1.. that's the difference, No controversy!

Thanks. I thought it would be something like that...but I'm new here and you just never know...

I do like going to the med board because there are great discussions there too but it is a bit slower than here...thats actually how I ended up coming here...no new posts there and I had some time to kill!

I'd like to add that it does seem as if the two boards are redundant but both have their own purposes. I've lurked on the Sonoma boards a little bit and wanted to join in since the Med. board was not getting much activity. But I have a hard time on the Sonoma boards..

Though Sonoma is right for some, it is not for me as I get aggitated with questions like "Are we allowed to have ___on wave 2?" "How about going back to wave 1?" "Is ___ part of Sonoma." ... "I cheated and ate ____."

Though I've only glanced at the book, Sonoma seems to me to be more of a jump start or template for changing eating habits to Mediterranean. This is something I don't need as the cultural foods my family has been eating for the past 20+ years are very much like the MediterrAsian food pyramids.

My family is very healthy,... me?.. I've not taken care of myself so I am not at a healthy weight. I need the Med. forum as I wouldn't know where else to comfortably talk with someone about this lifestyle.

Hope I am not babbling.. it has been a long day.

Not babbling at all... I see what you mean...and maybe it would be frustrating for the Sonoma people to have their discussions diluted. I really enjoy your lifestyle oriented posts over on the med board.

Thats sort of what I thought and I think I may buy the book for that reason...we are entirely new to eating this way. I grew up very meat and potatoes...so did DH. So we could use the jump start.

Of course I'll still see you on the Mediterranean Board...we need a cooler name Club Med?...maybe that would pick up the action.

I thought of buying the book just so I knew what the heck everyone on this board was talking about.. When I heard about waves on Sonoma from a friend I thought it was some kind of seafood diet.
