How about a healthier chocolate treat? SF chocolate pudding = 60 calories. SF Fudgsicle = 40 calories. My fave: LF cottage cheese + 1/4 packet dry SF chocolate instant pudding mix and either your favorite crunchy cereal (mine is Kashi GoLean) and/or a bit of natural PB (tastes like a Butterfinger, no kidding). It's my favorite meal!

I... eat chocolate. Either a 230 calorie Hershey bar with almonds or a 100 calorie Cadbury Thins dark chocolate bar. I crave chocolate reasonably often, too. I just find a way to work it in so I don't ruin the day. If I deny the craving for too long, I'm sure to binge.

I too eat chocolate. 70% cocoa solids. You only need a wee bit. We have a low fat chocolate pudding here which is to die for (but only available in the UK)

I can give up chips, fried chicken, pizza - but I can't give up chocolate!!!!

thanks ladies...

thats the thing, chocolate is a "trigger food" for me. that is why I have decided to give it up cuz once I have a bite I CANNOT STOP for real!

I would go sugar free, but I am not eating artifical sweeteners...

Hmm... what about some hot cocoa? Would that still function as a trigger?

Other than that, the only methods I know of how to stop a craving are to ignore it by going for a ten minute walk, drinking a few glasses of water, or brushing your teeth. If it really is going to cause problems for you, you'll have to learn to fight it.

I make the Ricotta Creme recipe from the South Beach Diet.

1/2 good quality Ricotta Cheese (choose the fat content based on whatever program you are on -- there are no fat, low fat, reduced fat and whole fat versions available)
1/2 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa power
packet of no cal sweetener of your choice
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Blend together and chill. It is good! The flavor of Ricotta really varies from brand to brand, so you may want to try a coupe of different ones to find one you like.

Very filling, a nice dose of calcium and protein and chocolate. I think I'll make some right now!

PS: People seem to really like this or really dislike it. If you fall in the latter category - oops!

LOL are you SERIOUS? Cottage cheese with pudding mix, cereal and PB? You EAT that? I can't imagine it.

Maybe I will have to give it a try! Just never know!!

I crave chocolate cake sometimes . I never ate it that much before starting my new healthy lifestyle. I just resist, I know it would be a trigger food for me. But mostly I crave fruits, which I eat in moderation. Especially watermelon and pineapple.

I love fresh pineapple too... in fact I have one I bought which I need to go carve up!!! YUM. It is fantastic dehydrated too! The junk you buy in the store is nasty and full of sugar... but home dried stuff in incredible!

I am the same with chocolate and all processed sweets... when I am "off" of them I am fine without them; but if I started in it would just make me crave them... so I don't! I do have my lattes though which are as good as any dessert! And I make them myself so I know exactly what goes into them LOL.

When I crave chocolate so much that I absolutely have to have it, I give in and have some. But I never keep anything around my apartment so I go out and buy something small enough that I can eat the whole thing at once and not set myself back too badly. I find it more satisfying to get the good stuff, so I get 70% dark chocolate (I found one place that sells smaller bars- only 200 calories. Usually this stuff only comes in enormous bars) or one or two Lindor truffles. Again the dark ones are more satisfying, but that could be because I really enjoy the deep chocolate taste.

I crave dark chocolate like crazy, I have small Swiss thins in my drawer, they're about 40 cals each, just pop one in your mouth and let it melt slowly, one is usually enough to stop the craving.
I read somewhere in a magazine that if you use vanilla essential oils or perfume it helps with the chocolate cravings, dunno if it works but its worth a try!

I'm with the dark chocolate fans. If I have a craving, I can control myself with just a small piece. It actually makes me feel better too.

Milk chocolate on the other hand. Right after eating it I feel kind sick and out of control.

Dark chocolate.. ~hmmmmmmmmmm~

I love dark chocolate too! Actually Hershey's now makes a dark chocolate cocoa powder and I use a spoonful of that in my coffee grounds before I brew it... it's great!! Other than that, I'll just bypass the stuff though.. I love the taste of a LOT of things that I'm just going to mostly consider "old friends" now LOL. No point in getting started. I'm better off this way.
