Ok..... What about this diet? It sounds good and like I could stick to it. Has anyone here had success with it? I was going to try Sugarbusters but my Other Half who does the shopping will not cooperate. But this he might like, her has Greek ancestry and he could stand to lose a few also. I also like to have a glass of red wine now and then with my dinner. So tell me what your experiences are so far. I am new to this site and I have gained over 20 lbs. since June without really changing my habits. I was already 20-25 lbs. overweight so this is not fun. I have had my thyroid checked, hormone check(premenopausal), etc.. I am beginning to think stress causes weight gain even if you don't eat more than you did before. I have plenty of stress.. So could I have some input before I buy the book Please? Nancy
I started the diet on March 13 and have lost 12 pounds so far. The first few days are really hard and you will be hungry, but then you just seem to get adjusted and you're satisfied with the portion sizes. I also drink over 100 ounces of water and try to exercise at least three times a week. I like the diet and I like the recipes that are in the book.
In my opinion, this is a good plan and is easy to stick to. I really like that it's "real" food. I've been on it since January and now prefer the foods I make over pretty much any other foods. That's saying a lot for me because I used to love fast food, ice cream, cakes, etc. Now I don't really want it.
Oh yes, I've lost weight. It's been slow and steady, though I've been stuck at 169 for a while. But I exercise a lot and am losing inches. I also feel better. To me, changing my eating was more about health and any weight loss was just an added bonus.
It's an easy lifestyle change to follow. Which is how I think of it, not a diet but a lifestyle change. If you don't want to buy the book, go to the library and see if you can get it that way, or head to the bookstore one afternoon, sit in one of the cozy chairs and look/read it over.
Thanks for your response everyone. It really does sound like a food plan I could handle. Does anyone have their husbands/significant others on this. I may even try to get my teenage daughter to try it. Minus the wine. Nancy T
My husband is sort of on this. He generally has a fruit smoothie with protein powder for breakfast and eats out for lunch. But he eats sonoma-appropriate snacks and dinners according to sonoma portions. He was a little worried about the portion sizes, but is very satisified. I think it's a very healthful way to eat and if you just cook the dinners, no one in your family will even know they're "on a diet."
My husband eats whatever I fix, so he just tends to eat more but the same basics. He really wants potatoes, though, so I just make them sometimes.
He can go for a long time without desserts and then demands one - but once in a while it really is ok. It's just a lot of good concepts, fresh fruits and vegies, lean protein, whole grains, minimal oil - although this diet purports that you have olive oil, it's in tsp servings and so in my mind is pretty low in fat as well.
my husband really enjoys the food on the plan. Sometimes when I'm making my grocery list, I'll ask if there are any meal requests and his response is usually, something on Sonoma sounds good.
Hi
I have been on Wave 1 for 4 days. Today I broke through 59kg, I have been trying for over a year to be 58.?kg. I am so excited. And that is with exercising less this week than normal. On top of that I'm not hungry, my sugar levels are much more even, and my stomach is happy (I have IBS so my stomach is often not happy). This is the best diet (lifestyle) ever.
