Default Getting fit and healthy hurts .... :)

I injured myself working out last Thursday. I was doing a set Leg Press exercises where you are reclined on your back and pushing up the weight plate with your legs. Anyway, I managed to either pull a muscle in my rib cage or I cracked a short rib. You would not think you could hurt that part of your body doing that exercise - but due to the amount of weight I have lost, I have a lot of excess skin and I guess it got positioned wrong or something.

Anyway - I go to the doctor and they take X-rays. I ask him what to do. He says well broken or not, the treatment is the same - take Motrin and wait till it quits hurting. Thanks Doc....

Default I know what you mean

Sorry to hear about your broken rib. I broke a rib once coughing. I resently pulled something in my groin area 3 weeks ago. It is still bothering me. I keep trying to walk for my exercise and every now and then my groin reminds me to take it easy. Mostly I have been sticking to the stationary bike.
I hope it does not take your rib long to heal.

When i first got my treadmill, in Feb or so, i used the darn thing so much.. became so addicted to it.. that i gave myself horrible shin splints.. LOL I thought it would be a good idea for this big girl to try to jog.. not only was it physcially uncomfortable.. all the stuff bouncing.. but it ultimately led to me not being able to excercise for about 2 weeks.

Wish you **speedy healing** vibes..

I hope you have a speedy recovery Charles. What's the saying, no pain no gain! I totally don't believe in that one. I have continually hurt my knees the last two months. I hope that as I get stronger it will right itself. I keep having to take breaks to feel better. Hope you get back to it soon.Take care of yourself.

Ouch! Thats gotta hurt, heal quickly!

I remember I once hurt my rotator cuff at swim practice, phew, that hurt like CRAZY, I could barely move that arm at all. As I was growing up I spent quite a bit of time doing sports, mainly swimming, up to 4-5 hours a day. I found I got hurt the most when I wasn't totally focused on what I was doing. I am a chubby gal, and am currently jogging.. I find if I'm very present in what I'm doing my form is better.

Wow, I used to love that particular machine, I had even worked up to 600 lbs on it. I wouldn't have imagined hurting your ribs, I used to be concerned about my knees. I hope you heal soon. As ilene says, be careful out there.
