Default So HARD To Stay Off Sugar

It really is the center of life in society isn't it. There is forever a birthday celebration, mother-in-law fixing her famous specialty, Monday at work someone brought in donuts to celebrate spring and yesterday was another guy's one year anniversary with a cake. Geez!

I guess you notice it when you have been actively changing patterns. I have avoided most of it, but not all. I still crave sometimes a sweet something after dinner - sometimes fruit does it, sometimes it doesn't.

I had to slip out around the secretary yesterday who was actively pushing the cake.

It is very hard to stay away from sugar. Since I'm diabetic I have had to make this a number one goal. After being off from it for a while the cravings for it will go away. Just keep working at it and you will get there.

Cindy,

There are deifnitely times, I always keep a dark chocolate hershey's kiss in my purse. If the craving is really bad, and water or tea didn't get rid of it. I eat the hershey kiss. But I do have to admit, when I was on the Sonoma system the first go around, it gets easier with time.

Yep, I can relate. Sugar and refined carbs are everywhere! What works for me is to not avoid it completely, but severely limit it compared to what I used to eat. The more time that goes by, I find that smaller amounts satisfy me. Since Jan., our family has had a baby shower, a wedding, and six birthday parties, and at each event I have eaten less cake than the event before. I even bypassed the dessert at a conference in late January because, after taking a tiny taste, I didn't think the quality was worth it.

I TOTALLY agree how hard it is... I really don't crave the sugar as much these days but it seems like everyone brings in something different every day at work. Plus pre sonoma I used to eat out for lunch quite a bit. Now I enjoy eating my sonoma friendly foods and saving money too by not eating out so much. I allow myself to eat out once per week but I feel bad because Threre are just some places you can't or don't really want to eat at because they just don't have healthy choices. I know I shouldn't feel bad about saying "I can't eat there can we go somewhere else?" but hey If they want me to go they have to go to a place that isnt greasy right??

Oh, you are so right about it being the center of the world. I work in a doctor's office and drug reps are constantly bringing in cookies and junk like that. So far, I've been able to resist. Have you noticed that the more weight you lose, the more people will push you to eat it? That drives me crazy!!! Next Tuesday is my birthday and they usually bring in a cake. I told the manager that if she has to bring in something, to make it a veggie tray!
