ok, so here's my first month goal : lose 10 lbs. by april 19th. im kind of nervous though b/c im getting all 4 wisdom teeth taken out on tuesday so im gonna be out of it at least that day and maybe another day. plus im not sure when ill be able to eat well again. anyone who had 'em taken out...can you give me some advise on what to eat and so on? anyway, looking at my goal of losing 53 lbs altogether (already lost almost 6) is like staring at a huge mountain knowing i have to get to the top, so instead im taking it 10 lbs at a time...one foot in front of the other...anyway, hope everyone has a great sunday and an even better week
When I got mine out it was pretty much meal-replacement shakes and jello/pudding for a few days. You'll get pretty swollen and it'll be uncomfortable to chew much. Then I moved on to mashed potatoes, and I was able to eat pretty normally after a week or so.
Definitely take the weight loss one step at a time. 10lbs is a good, achievable goal! Someone's signature on these forums is good advice: "mile by mile, life's a trial; inch by inch, life's a cinch!" Congrats on your 6lb loss so far, that's an awesome start!!
When I had mine taken out, I was strictly on a fluid diet. You probably won't even want too eat much of anything because of how you may feel, your face may swell. Just remember to ice it daily, and drink a lot of fluids, take ibuprophen or acetominophen to help with your pain. Just remember to drink lots to stay nourished even when you do not feel thirsty because you do not want to lose electrolytes and become dehydrated!
Yeah, you won't even really feel like eating, so take advantage by having protein shakes and sugar free pudding and jell-o. Ug, I had mine extracted, I think all I ate was milk shakes (back then I wasn't trying to lose weight, those were the days) and pain killers.
Crystal, I have almost the same goal as you... mine is 48 pounds total (53 if I can make it to 115, but I don't know) and I want to lose 10 lbs by April 19th! Maybe we can hold each other accountable somehow... Are you doing any special kind of diet? I'm just trying to eat more veggies and fruits and not as much junk, and of course EXERCISE... Just to prove to my mom that you don't need a "special diet". (Just for the record, I think organized diets are great for anyone and everyone they work for... she just seems like she's always been looking for a "miracle" one) We have gym access at our school that we can use for free, so I'm hoping to do the elliptical (sp.?) for 30-60 min per day. I like that so much better than running! Well, good luck to you in everything, and if you need a buddy, I'm here!
i would love to have some sort of an accountability partner. i think that'll help motivate me just a little more. im not on any diet, although im taking a lot of my nutrition thoughts from the "sonoma diet" im cutting out white rice, and bread and replacing them with whole grains. also adding more fresh veggies and fruits. but also not saying there is anything i "can't" have...just everything in moderation i guess. but yeah if you want we can check in with eachother either every day or every couple of days to make sure we're still on track and to be able to remind the other what our ultimate goal is...feel free to email me (i think you can through my profile) or send me a private message or whatever....thanks for the advise on the protein shakes ladies, i never would have thought of those honestly! hope everyone has a great week

LOL it kills me that the Sonoma Diet is a "new" thing--I don't see any difference from most other diets! Regardless of gimmick, it's all about whole grains, more fruits and veggies, lean meats and dairy, less processed food, and portion control

being "nutritionally challenged" lol, ive never really read into any diets other than this one...thats the only reason i brought it up....honestly im just now seeing the importance of fruits veggies and what not it was a non issue to me growing up. but now that im trying to lose weight, and be healthier altogether, i think that no matter when i finally had my lightbulb moment, lol, just that im doing it ya know?
Oh, I definitely wasn't laughing AT you! It's just the concept is funny to me. I think it's great by any name (Sonoma, South Beach, WW, etc.), and if bringing it out in a new book with a new name makes more people aware of healthy eating, then so be it!
